FIBER Podcast 11 – Alan Backdrop

The German philosopher Friedrich Kittler once argued: “The development of the internet has more to do with human beings becoming a reflection of their technologies…. After all, it is we who adapt to the machine. The machine does not adapt to us.” (The Guardian 28/12/11) A claim that winks to Alan Backdrop, a man with a profound love for vinyl. He says his life spins in circles. During long periods of research and experimentation in music he often falls for dark and gloomy sounds. But at some point he comes full circle and is in need for something more light and colourful. As if the record passes the light pin …

(TAL069) Sebastian Mullaert aka Minilogue

We kick off the new year in style with an exclusive podcast by Sebastian Mullaert, better known for his groupMinilogue that he founded with Marcus Henriksson back in 2000. Although the duo began its career by focusing on genres such as progressive house or psy-trance (under the monikers Son Kite and Trimatic), another facet of their talent will eventually be revealed with their releases on Traum Schallplatten, Crosstown Rebels or Wagon Repair between 2005 and 2007. Taking advantage of their success to create their own eponymous label, they managed to design a very distinctive sound, brilliantly using their various influences to craft a kind of minimalistic and very unusual tech-house. Then, they will assert this …

Infiné Podcast 008 – Fabien Dalzin

InFiné are back with a new podcast. After many peregrinations on Soundcloud, InFiné finally ended in the Fabien Dalzin profile, full of sophisticated productions and edits and, to crown it off, he comes from the native city of InFiné: Lyon. Fabien Dalzin started his first years in the music producing teck house. He signed his EP’s on the labels Helios Recording and Timid Records. Then, his influences changed: he turns into calmer and deeper music (ambiant, electronica and IDM). Create feelings thanks to music is his main goal. RA.282 Giorgio Gigli and Obtane

Published / 24 October 2011 Filesize / 98.10 MB Length / 01:21:37 Droning techno from an Italian duo. Italians do it darker. Or so we put it last year in a feature centered around the amount (and type) of techno emanating from the Mediterranean country. Giorgio Gigli and Obtane’s Zooloft label is one of its main proponents. Each have released for other labels throughout the years—Gigli for Mental Groove, Dumb Unit and Prologue; Obtane for Sonic Groove, Synewave and Stroboscopic Artefacts—but Zooloft is their baby. On the imprint the duo have explored a palate that resides somewhere between modern classical, dark ambient and droning 4/4 rhythms. They also have a knack for …
