(TAL051) Kris Wadsworth

Description

Some kind of a particular podcast this week… It’s signed by Kris Wadsworth, the Detroit based producer who has been rocking the electronic music scene for some years now. After a bunch of EPs on Hypercolour, Morris/Audio and NRK, he just released his last gem on Subb-an and Adam Shelton’s label, One Records. That obviously makes him a man of taste, and all the better since he is currently working on some collabs with Butane, Ed Davenport and Anthony Collins, in short, a bunch of high-flying people.

But Kris Wadsworth is more than an average producer. He’s above all an atypical character, and one of the most authentic artists you can come across on the electronic music scene. The following mix is a raised middle finger to the dance industry and all of its codes, but also a nice sample of Wadsworth’s musical influences. More than a dancefloor expression, here is his own expression of himself, and the result can be quite disruptive. The traditional 4/4 scheme is left apart to dive into the strange and unknown, on the background of The Orb and Black Label Society, or Burial and DJ Koze. It’s quite certain that opinions on this podcast will split, but it’s also certain that some of you will come out of it a bit more open minded… Anyways, Kris Wadsworth says it himself : « I seriously hope this mix makes people hate me ».
