(TAL030) Subb-an

Description

You may not have heard of Subb-an before, but across the Channel everyone is already blabbing about that guy. Hyperactive figure of the English electronic panorama since he’s 14, he early got into DJing and started in 2005 the Below nights in Birmingham with two of his lads, Adam Shelton and Lee McDonald. The greatests played at their parties, from Loco Dice to Jamie Jones, and quickly Below became one of the UK’s leading clubbing institutions, allowing Subb-an to play his wrecking live set in front of a growing audience. In 2008, he dropped his debut track « Italia Subculture » on Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom, followed by a bunch of EPs on Immigrant Records. Since then, he released several hits on labels as influent as Mothership, BPitch Control, Trapez, or more recently Hot Creations, on which he just signed an excellent remix of De Signer’s « Suicide Girl ». Add to this a recent EP for the LA-based label Culprit and a forthcoming release on the all-mighty Crosstown Rebels, and you’ll understand why Subb-an is to be followed quite closely.

Even if I didn’t have the luck to attend one of the Below parties, I guess this mix perfectly matches the mood you can experience there. In between disco and tech-house, Subb-an carries us in his own universe, based on cheesy vocals, shivering basslines, mojitos and half-naked chicks. A daintily podcast, that proves once again that the English scene  has shiny days ahead.
