Description
If my memory doesn’t play me tricks, Boris Brejcha’s « Lost Memory » was one of the very first tracks that led me to “minimal techno”, about three years ago. So it is an honor for me to introduce the podcast of a guy without whom I would still be listening to stuff like Sound Pellegrino or happy hardcore compilations, and composing some sort of euro-trance shit on FL Studio 7. Anyway, you’ve got it, I owe a lot to Boris Brejcha and his music.
Since 2006 and his early years on Autist Records, the German producer worked his way up. In about a year he became one of the rising stars of the European techno background, thanks to his many EPs released on Autist (as Anna) and Harthouse Mannheim, the historic label that signed artists as exciting as Zoo Brazil, Gui Boratto or Miro Pajic, a label that Boris has never left so far. In 2007, he logically released on this label his first long length disk called « Die Maschinen Kontrollieren Uns », followed by the excellent « Mein Wahres Ich » in 2008 and last year’s « My Name Is ». Acclaimed by the critics, these three LPs allowed Brejcha to create and define his very own music style, that he calls himself “high-tech minimal”, halfway between urging and overwhelming techno, and more sophisticated minimal. By the way please note that a remix album for « My Name Is » will be released anytime soon, with edits from Deepgroove, Patrick Kunkel or Florian Meindl.
In the meantime, ambiance yourself with this podcast stuck between live and DJ Set, as it only contains Brejcha’s productions. Best way to get to know this artist if you didn’t take the time to listen to his music yet. And anyway, you can’t sit on an hour of techno made in Germany.
