Description
Berlin based American Tim Xavier is a techno specialist: last year saw the release of his raw dancefloor opus Viperfish – an album alive with variously dark, twisted and hypnotic tracks all recorded in one take. It came on the Clink label run by his partner Camea (one that largely operates in minimalistic fields) whilst other Xavier productions have appeared on Cocoon, Peacefrog and Baroque. Also a mastering engineer at his own vinyl/audio mastering company, Mandmade Mastering, Xavier DJs across Europe and beyond on a weekly basis.
As such, we’re super happy to have him curate a very special podcast, just for us…. The mix he turns in starts in groovy house territory before tightening up into more imposing techno offerings. Never too forceful, though, there are passages of deepness, dub, trippy FX and an underlying coherence that keeps you locked from start to finish. It’s dynamic, ever shifting stuff that paints a vivid picture of stripped back techno in 2011.
