We knew we had to get someone very special for our 100th podcast, and we thought that getting just another DJ could be a bit boring. So…

This mix is a Battlejam special. When Beardyman, (2x UK Beatbox champion and general musical innovator) and JFB (2007 UK DMC Champion) play together it’s Battlejam. They run a night of that name in Brighton and London and have had all kinds of special guests down to play including Rob da Bank, DJ Skully, Rusko, Stereotype and some really leftfield live-loopers and guest musicians.

This special podcast sees Beardyman creating full tracks using his mouth, samplers and effects units, plus some fat tracks, some weird adverts, and a couple of prank calls…

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
My personal favourite track on the podcast… its a toss-up between Latex Quim, a track I made which’ll be out on my upcoming debut album, or Head-Screws by long-time friend and collaborator MC Klumzytung who’s work features prominently on the mix. The Fatboy Slim Prank call is my favourite but though I think.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The whole thing is a live performance. We did the prank calls beforehand and scratched them in live, the links are all live performances, I do stuff, JFB samples me and scratches with it, the angels weep.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
I’ve been taking time off from gigs to record an album and work out a way to kidnap Cheryl Cole. Did a sick gig with The Jungle Drummer in Cambridge in February though that was hot like molten Amen breaks.

What have you got coming up?
My UK and Ireland tour the “Open Sauce” Tour is coming up at the end of April. You can suggest mash-ups of incngruous tunes, weird mixtures of genres that you’d never think would work and unlikely song topics you’d never normally hear and i’ll do em all at the gigs! You can post suggestions to #Beardytour or post them on my facebook page…or just shout them at the gig at the appropriate moment, but to be fair some of the venues are pretty big so its best to post it up in advance if you want to stand a chance of me actually hearing your suggestion.

All details and booking info can be found on my facebook page, www.facebook.com/therealbeardyman
JFB will be there in support, I’ll be challenging him to make sick tunes ‘live’ out of the worst music I can find, hahaha…it’s gonna be fucking awesome. See you there.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
I love you and I’m sorry…let’s never fight again…
