There’s something so rewarding about a CD landing on your desk by someone you’ve never heard of and finding out that it’s amazing. Believe us, there’s a lot of crap that falls into the unknowns category, but Austria’s Clara Moto grabbed us as soon as we hit play. Shame on us for not being aware of her previously; she’s been bubbling away on Agoria’s Infiné label for a few years now, graduate from Red Bull Music Academy’s class of 2006, played Sonar and many of the world’s leading electronic festivals and clubs and found fans in the likes of Claude VonStroke, Silicone Soul and Paul Hazendonk.
Her debut album on Infiné, Polyamour, is an absolutely stunning collection of pretty, delicate melody and beatless soundscapes, and turgid, sexy tech house grooves with lashings of sub-bass and jacking percussion. Out at the start of April 2010, it’s one of this year’s essentials we reckon.
