Description

As 2010 ends we have a Xmas treat for your ears, a fresh podcast from London’s French explorer: Safari Electronique’s head honcho Arnaud Le Texier. With 15 years of experience in the electronic music scene Arnaud has been on our mind for a while for our podcast series. Having lined up releases by established artists such as Cesar Merveille, Cesare vs Disorder, Johnny D, D’Julz, Italoboys, Miss Fitz on Safari Electronique and pushing upcoming talents on Safari Numerique (the digital only counterpart), he is definetely one of the prominent figures of the actual underground house and techno scene. He has several releases in the pipeline as well as having a track featured in the upcoming London Cuts Vol.2 on Serialism Records. Read the interview for more details about it.

1) How did you record this mix?

I recorded it using two turntables , cd, efx and Traktor Scratch!

2) How long have you been living in London and why did you decide to move here?

Almost 5 years. I moved to London because I was fed up of Paris. After 11 years you need to change sometimes. I like London because people are friendly. There is also a good underground clubbing scene.

3) The mix has a very deep-old school-hypnotic edge, is it London’s influence?

There is for sure influence from London but I always liked this deep hypnotic style and I like to play that when it’s a podcast…

4) You recently celebrated 5 years of Safari Electronique in Fabric and at London’s Half Baked party. How do you see Safari evolving in the next 5 years?

Really hard to say how safari will evolve in the next 5 years because I don’t make any plan but I will continue to push artists and music as long as I can, that’s for sure. I really hope that I could make another celebration like the 5 years because both parties rocked. It was good to see all this support.

5) You have signed a large numbers of artists on Safari Electronique. Many labels decide to focus on a small number of artists; can you tell us what is the policy behind your label’s management?

I am just doing a Safari in Electronic, it’s  as simple as that… If you do a safari you are gonna see a lot of different animals, landscapes, isn’t it?  Safari Electronique’s vision is to show a lot of atmospheres & styles in electronic music with different artists. Most of the labels like to do a unique sound that makes them easy to recognize. It has never been my vision because I’d get bored quickly…

6) What’s coming up for you as a producer in the near future?

I am working on new tracks for Bass Culture, Children of Tomorrow, Safari, Serialism…

7) Have you already considered a musical project that would go beyond the barriers of the club scene?

I am working on some tracks at the moment that are different of what I do usually. It’s nice, you can experiment more when you don’t have this kick… boom boom boom… I made a lot of ambient tracks in the past and always like to do that since the beginning. I would love to make music for a movie in the future.

8)What makes you tick when you are not in the studio?

I like to travel, watch movies & cook.
