(TAL039) Italoboyz

Description

Many people including myself had a bad feeling at first glance when discovering Italoboyz, and guessed that another cheap and cheesy house duo was hiding behind this uninspired pseudonym. But it would have been a shame to stay fazed on this aspect of the Italian duo, especially after listening to a track like L’Anagramme, which is still clearly one of the greatest pieces of tech-house I’ve ever heard… It’s in 2002 that Marco Donato and Federico Marton decided to settle down in London, after ten years of career in Italy. After debuting in 2006 on labels such as Treibstoff and Safari Electronique, they released their first EP on Mothership in 2007, initiating at the same time a relationship made to last. Indeed, after the release of “Viktor Casanova” in 2006, the two Italians dropped “Where Is London” and their debut album “Bla Bla Bla” (the title alone sums up the whole eccentricity of the duo), still on Mothership, so that they are now among the leading artists of Claude VonStroke’s label alongside the excellent Catz ‘N Dogz or Voodeux. In parallel, they also signed some very good records on Trapez, Get Physical and Material Series…Nowadays their reputation is second to none, and fans are eagerly awaiting a new release after a little period of musical absence.

To help us wait, Marco and Federico took care of the 39th Trace A Line podcast. Just like the music they produce, this mix is full of catchy and groovy house, sometimes deep and sometimes more wacky…This is the kind of mix to listen to at an afterparty, when the eyelids are heavy, the ears are tired and the bodies are sprawled on anything that might resemble closely or remotely to a sofa.
