(TAL045) Joseph Capriati

Description

In the same vein as Tony Rohr’s recent mix, our today’s guest is Joseph Capriati, in for a subversive and pulsing techno-influenced podcast. Hailing from Naples, Italy, Joseph got into techno quite early thanks to the furious sets from people like Dave Clarke, Billy Nasty and Rino Cerrone that he used to listen to as a teenager. The next step was logically to start producing, a sport he will dive into for several years before the release of his very first hit in 2007 : “C’est La Vie”, a hyponotic and rhythmical minimal bomb that will set his production style and allow him to join Analytic Trail, one of the most imposing Napolitano labels on the Italian scene. About twenty EPs and two years later Capriati caught Adam Beyer’s attention and luckily signed on his famous label, Drumcode. Not quite exhausted from knocking over most of the biggest European clubs such as the mighty Berghain and the Awakenings in Amsterdam, he also built himself a strong reputation everywhere else abroad, distilling his techno in spots as unlikely as Honduras and Mauritius. During these last few years he logically became one of the most considered artists of his generation and when his name outrings, the crowd goes nuts and clubs are filled straight away.
Concerning 2011, the producer promised a few tracks on Drumcode and a bunch of collabs that still are a bit mysterious so far. In the meantime, to help you waiting, he offered us this mix recorded in a club, and thus that embodies quite well the power he puts into his performances. No time-out, but never any boring overbid, he gives us there a real good techno lesson. Drumcode style.
