Description

We kick off the new year in style with an exclusive podcast by Sebastian Mullaert, better known for his groupMinilogue that he founded with Marcus Henriksson back in 2000. Although the duo began its career by focusing on genres such as progressive house or psy-trance (under the monikers Son Kite and Trimatic), another facet of their talent will eventually be revealed with their releases on Traum Schallplatten, Crosstown Rebels or Wagon Repair between 2005 and 2007. Taking advantage of their success to create their own eponymous label, they managed to design a very distinctive sound, brilliantly using their various influences to craft a kind of minimalistic and very unusual tech-house. Then, they will assert this new identity with the release of the critically acclaimed Animals in 2008, their first album as Minilogue composed of two CDs, one for techno and one for their ambient works. Since then a few other EPs have been released on excellent labels, and a new album should be out in the next few months… To wait, you can still listen to « The Möllan Sessions » released last October on Mule, the collaborative ambient LP between Mullaert, Henriksson and Koss from Japan.

Sebastian Mullaert has a solid reputation in solo too. His personal projects are mainly distributed via the Mule Electronic label, whether in the form of compilation (such as the incredible « Wa Wu We » released in 2010) or EP like « Älva ». For our podcast, Sebastian kindly gave us an excerpt from his long mix made in Kumamoto, Japan, just to see how he does it in the club…And he does it good.
