Robert James is one of a new breed of British artists that are currently re-writing the rulebook for underground house music worldwide. Based in the city of Leeds, the UK’s second stronghold of underground house and techno outside of London, Rob first made a name for himself DJing around his hometown and in Ibiza. His career exploded exponentially over last summer when his debut release ‘Sleep Moods’ was released on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Creations label. Since then he’s notched up a Mixmag ‘House Tune of the Month’ with Malibu (also on Hot Creations), which he co-wrote with fellow Yorkshireman Burnski, won support from across the dance music spectrum for his co-remix of Clockwork with Lee Foss and Art Department and caused much amusement (unless you’re Clive Henry) as a part of ‘Pteradactil Disco’. His sound is completely unique, born from a strong sense of groove and from summers spent on the dance floor at DC10 in Ibiza plus a healthy ambition to turn house music on its head. He effortlessly creates music aimed squarely at the dance floor that is distinct, infectious and appeals as much to the head and the heart as it does the feet. For the last two years Rob has been regular fixture at clubs like The Mint Club and My House in Leeds, the Zoo Project and Space in Ibiza and the Rainbow in Birmingham, but his recent successes in the studio have seen his bookings move into overdrive. Having landed bookings at fabric, Back To Basics, Bedrock, Asylum, Creche, You Are We and the Junk Club in the UK, his international gigs have started to overtake his domestic bookings. Most notable of these have been the Get Lost and Hot Natured parties in Miami, Rebel Raves in Lisbon and Sonar, Watergate in Berlin, Trouw in Amsterdam, the Hideout Festival in Croatia and Cirque de Bonheur in Paris. These parties and others have seen him play alongside the likes of Damian Lazarus, Carl Cox, Jamie Jones, Layo and Bushwacka, Art Department and most notably warming up for Pete Tong in front of ten thousand people in Sheffield broadcast live on Pete Tong’s Friday night show on Radio One. The Godfather of UK dance music has in fact been so impressed by Rob’s approach to production that, in conjunction with Mixmag, Pete has named Rob as one of the top new producers to watch in 2011. This resulted in him being featured in Mixmag an unprecedented three months in a row. With a such a strong start to 2011, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the year holds in store for this hugely talented young artist.

The best way to find out more about yourself is to become someone else for a while. What better way to do that in music than unleashing a brand new pseudonym that gives you total freedom of expression? Just ask London based duo, Moodtrap. Shedding the identity of their current producer / DJ project, the pair will remain anonymous in a bid to simply let their music do the talking. Their purist approach towards the promotion of Mootrap is both refreshing and reflective of the attitude of their music, namely 90s influenced, classic house sounds.

Having first appeared with a track on the wonderfully inimitable Tsuba Records, Moodtrap’s releases will be for Kevin Griffiths’ imprint exclusively. The debut EP, ‘Body To Body’ unveils four accomplished, underground house tracks. Displaying an old school energy and an utterly charming rawness, the guys have got their new alias off to a flying start. Their follow up, the ‘Make It Right’ EP sees the duo delving into the various different sides of their masked personalities. Through three new productions, the pair explore a heady concoction of bass driven techno, indulging their dubbier aesthetic before touching on the sounds of bassline and even garage.

The thing that really excites about this project though is being able to watch this masked identity grow through their own vision, never having to relent to outside pressures. The creativity stems from the duo and Tsuba themselves and nothing more. Nothing can stifle their creative process and that surely gives Moodtrap the potential to be truly innovative and create something special.

In a career which has still spanned only seven years, Glimpse has established himself as one of the most versatile, imaginative and talented producers that the UK has to offer today.

From the early days of his hugely successful, uncompromising techno ‘Black Series’ on Glimpse Recordings, through to the groove-laden tech house of ‘Drifting’ on Planet E and, later, fully pursuing the deep and organic take on house via his Crosstown Rebels singles and album – this musical range has gained him the respect of his peers and culminated in two successive nominations in DJ Magazine’s prestigious ‘Best British Producer’ category.

Not that his recognition is purely domestic. As a touring act, the Glimpse live show has really found its mark after the tipping point of the ‘Runner’ LP on Crosstown Rebels in 2010. Already a regular in South America as well as Japan (in part due to a loyal following at Tokyo’s club-of-the-future Womb) the subsequent live tour powered him into new territories such as Australia and North America, as well as European clubbing meccas such as Panorama Bar, Tenax, Fabric, Cocoon and Tresor. A specific highlight in his career came in summer 2010 when an epic run of gigs at Space Ibiza’s Kehakuma party culminated in him being invited to close the evening on the Flight Area stage (outdoor Car Park) at the Space Closing fiesta. As he wrapped up the show, in front of a 5,000 strong crowd, he joined an elite crew containing literally the biggest names in the history of dance music.

With 2011 coming to an end, Glimpse steps into 2012 favourably returning to two of his former label collaborators. November saw him teaming up on Leftroom with regular collaborator Martin Dawson for ‘Wildlife’, which the label is calling one of their biggest releases yet. A highly sought after eruption of impelling house and a straight up dance floor killer, ‘Wildlife’ is yet another milestone release.

‘Fat Controller’ sees Glimpse make a welcome return to an on-point Hypercolour in early 2012 and, for his premier outing on Catz ‘n Dogz’ Pet Recordings, ‘Our Friends Electric’, Glimpse uses his own vocals with remarkable results on another extremely catchy single.

Capable of taking his sound in all the directions under the spectrum, owing to an unyielding drive to reinvent himself, only Glimpse knows what the future holds in store.

Richard West aka Mr.C was born in London in the late 60?s. He started MCing in the London clubs aged only 16 and soon earned a reputation as a fast talking vivacious rapper working with LWR radio’s Ron Tom, Jasper the Vinyl Junkie & Jazzy M. Mr.C then hooked up with Colin Faver and Evil Eddie Richards to became resident rapper at Camden Palace going on to MC for Colin Faver on the then illegal Kiss FM.

Mr.C went into the studio to record his 1st house track with Eddie Richards as Myster-E in 1987. This inspired Mr.C to become a DJ to learn more about his beloved house and techno music so in late ’87 Richard took to the decks.

Mr.C has since organized, promoted and been resident DJ at: Fantasy (’88), Base (Dungeons ’89), Release (’91), Harmony (’92), Drop (’93), Cyclone (’94), Vapourspace (’94 and ’95), Flavour (The End ’95 and ’96), Subterrain (The End (’95 – 2002) and Superfreq (The End / Junk Club / World-wide 2002 – present). In December 1995 Mr.C opened The End Club in London with Partner Layo Paskin which celebrated it’s 13th anniversary in December 2008.

Sadly The End closed it’s doors for good on January 24th 2009. 1 Chapter closes and another begins.

Mr.C is founder and owner of Plink Plonk Records, co-founder of End Recordings and cofounder and owner of Superfreq Records. Mr.C has recorded under the names, Myster-E, Nu Jacks, Bass Bureau, The Shamen, Mantrac, Somnambulist, Animus Amour, Killer Loop, Mr.C & Tom Parris, and Mr.C & 16B. He’s currently recording solo as Mr.C or as the Sycophant Slags with his production partner Adultnapper with releases on Sexonwax, End Rec, Hallucination Ltd, Superfreq, Bombis & Poker Flat Records and has EP’s due later in the year under both monikers.

Mr.C also runs and promotes Superfreq events, which is now in its 7th year and ran monthly at Mr.C’s club, The End until it closed down in January 2009. Superfreq now has monthly residencies at the brand new Cable Club in London starting June 13th 2009 & weekly at BoHo, Ibiza from June 11 2008. Superfreq is also bi-monthly at Junk Club in Southampton & in Calais, North France.

Superfreq has accomplished 5 successful seasons in Ibiza, 3 at Club Underground and the last 2 seasons at DC10 and has completed it’s 5th annual tour of South America as well as doing regular events with Made Events in NYC and at WMC Miami and regular events at Avaland in L.A. Superfreq has also done 1 off shows the world over including U.S.A, Canada, Mexico, China, England, Spain, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Lithuania, France, Croatia, Greece, Latvia and Russia to name but a few places. Watch out for forthcoming releases from both Mr.C and the Sycophant Slags!

Length: 01:16:15

Biography

London based Tim Green is one of those producers who doesn’t turn in a lot of filler tracks. His unique style and flare shine for all to see when the 25 year old puts his music out there. Ask some of the worlds top labels such as Cocoon, Get Physical or Dirtybird, on which Tim regularly releases some of his finest work. Tracks like Lone Time, Old Sunshine, Kitch-in, Mr. Dry as well as countless remixes for the likes of Cassius, Booka Shade, Tiefschwarz & Claude Von Stroke have become anthems in the house, techno and electronic world.

Tim’s music has been destroying discerning dancefloors for little under 4 years. Amassing a huge army of fans and supporters across the globe. It has been championed by the likes of Sven Vath, Pete Tong, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Sasha & John Digweed, Hot Chip, Luciano, Deadmu5, MANDY, Dubfire, Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli, Matthias Tanzmann, Steve Angello, Anja Schnieder and many more of the worlds top artists. Beatport top 10’s, a BBC Radio1 Essential Mix, and award nominations have followed, and his rise from Bedroom producer to highly acclaimed electronic artist is complete.

As a DJ, Tims talents have taken him to every corner of the globe. From Asia, Australia, South America, North America, and extensively across Europe Tim can be found rocking dancefloors every weekend in some of the worlds best clubs. From Fabric London, to Womb Tokyo, Watergate Berlin, Studio 80 Amsterdam, Tribe Festival Brazil, Rex Club Paris, Circus Liverpool, Mondo Madrid, Nuit Sonores Festival France, Lost Baggage Sydney and many more. Not to mention his own club night called Bedlam which he holds in his home county of Kent and welcomes along esteemed colleges to a raucous party atmosphere.

Whats on the cards now you may ask? A busy dj schedule across North America, South America, Asia, Ibiza, UK & extensively across the rest of Europe, but that’s not all. Tim is currently working on his debut artist album, which is sure to catapult his profile even higher than into the upper echelons of the electronic world. Expect the unexpected. Like we said, he doesn’t turn in a lot of filler tracks…

Adam’s own night, Below at The Rainbow in Birmingham, is now in its fifth year and continues to be one of the most cutting edge nights in the UK. Showcasing a selection of the premier league of DJ’s, in its unique and intimate environment, Below is currently one of the most respected bastions of House on the scene.

Recently Adam has played alongside the likes of Sven Vath, Luciano, 2000 and One and Jamie Jones, to name a few. Adam’s skills, versatility and range have lead him to guest at some of the best spots in the world including Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Cocoon, Back to Basics and Space in Ibiza.

As well as being an avid vinyl collector Adam has also just released his own production with fellow Below resident, Subb-an, on their own label “One Records”. The first release has been championed by the likes of Luciano, Slam, Paul Woolford and many more. The release has also received rave reviews in the likes of DE:Bug, Resident Advisor and DJ Mag as well as airplay from the likes of Pete Tong and others on Radio 1. Hold tight for more releases on One Records from Little Fritter, Subb-an, Buckley, and Adam Shelton himself.

With a hectic international gig diary, forthcoming productions and more releases on his own label combined with more groundbreaking events at Below the future’s bright for Adam as his talent and international presence continues to flourish with every stroke.

27 year old LEON from Italy is a man that has been making major waves in the house scene since his breakthrough at the beginning of 2009. Bursting onto the scene with a bang, LEON has carved out quite a reputation in such a short period of time., and this looks set to grow and grow. Releases for Steve Lawler’s Viva imprint kicked things off, followed by releases with Nick Curly’s much talked about Cecille label in Manheim, and the highly successful ReBirth records in Italy as well as remixes for artists such as Audiofly, Felipe Velenzuela & Ali Nasser. If that wasn’t enough Leon’s track ‘Rain In Rio’ was recently licensed to Cocoon’s ‘Green & Blue compilation’. In 2009 Leon is one of the producers that is helping re-invent the house sound, and as such his tracks are getting support from all the major players right now. Steve Lawler, Luciano, Carol Cox, MANDY, Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz Matthias Tanzmann and many more are all fans of Leon’s work, so its not hard to see why people are already talking about him as a future star. Born and raised in Teramo near Rome Leon’s obsession with house music started at a young age after discovering the music of Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry & Laurent Garnier – something he still regards as a major influence on his sound to this day. Djing in Italy from a young age would inevitably lead to production for someone of Leon’s ability. At the age of 23 he took his first steps in the production world. However rather than rush things he knew he needed to hone his talents. 3 years of hard work later and he is starting to bear the fruits of this work, and starting to show the world that he means business! With over 10 years experience behind the decks, its not hard to see why LEON’s reputation as dj, which was outstanding in Italy before his productions broke through, have now skyrocketed in the past year. Already djing in some of the worlds most famous clubs such as Cocorico in Italy, Pacha & Cielo in New York, Ministry Of Sound London, Zouk Singapore, Arma 17 Moscow, Sunwaves Romania, Monza Frankfurt and many many more. Get ready to be hearing a lot more about LEON, as forthcoming releases with Viva & Cecille. (from VIVa MUSiC)

Dark house and decadent electro anthems are what Clément Meyer is all about. In the short span of two years, Get The Curse’s driving force has amassed an impressive, devoted fan base in his home country of France and beyond.

In 2007, he created the Get The Curse collective and launchedwww.getthecurse.com, a website which soon becomes a European touchstone with podcasts and selections at the vanguard of electronic music. In a flash, eponymous club nights emerge in Paris at Flèche d’Or and Nouveau Casino.

From 2008 on, Get The Curse settled finally at the Social Club for its residency. Under Clément’s leadership, those nights gave rise to a new electronic order in Parisian nightlife. He developed his own vision of the dancefloor: a blend of tense hypnosis and mental intoxication. For obvious reasons, he teams up with Danton Eeprom for the Baise-Main residency at London’s legendary T-Bar.

2009 is the year of his first steps as a producer. His debut was released on Seinan, signed a remix on Fool House and all his tracks shone with his distinctive groove and strong attitude.

Yet it was with the launch of the record label “Get The Curse Music” in the beginning of 2010 and his ‘A Bucket of Blood’ EP that he made such a strong impression. An impressive array of DJs such as Ivan Smagghe (“Mr Meyer, new star…”), Simian Mobile Disco (“Seriously amazing stuff”), Andrew Weatherall (“Best techno tracks I’ve heard this year”), Damian Lazarus (“It’s gonna be big!”),Paul Woolford, Tobi Neumann and Carl Cox are jumping on the Meyer bandwagon; eager to get their hands on the latest tracks in his individual, signature style. Clement Meyer instantly became one of the rising stars of the French scene. Throughout the year, his releases on Rekluse, Octobus, Abracada
as well as remixes for Aswefall, Photonz and Matt Walsh attracted attention.

The coming year is set to be even more explosive, with a heavily anticipated EP on Kill The DJ, a remix for oldtimers Underworld and a collaboration with Le Loup, Paris’ other emerging talent.

“Best emerging talent of the French electronic scene” says magazine A NOUS PARIS” ? Be warned, you ain’t done with the curse…

biography

If her chosen name means anything—which it surely does—it’s not that Ms. Nidam is some sort of misfit. It might be more accurate to say that Maayan shapes sound to fit her own singular sensibilities—a strategy that has resulted in a significant and growing body of recorded work and a reputation as a talented, versatile DJ who unerringly takes listeners to special, unexpected places.

Since she began DJing and producing in 1999, Mayaan has racked up an impressive discography. As Miss Fitz, she has released EPs on Archipel, Sushitech, Raum…musik, Eklo, Kalimari, Freak n’ Chic and Contexterrior; she also travels in disguise as Laverne Radix, with one single so far for Oslo’s Love Letters from Oslo. March 2009 also marks the release of Maayan’s debut release under her own name: “Night Long” (on Japanese label PowerShovel), an intimate album woven together out of recordings of Cuba’s best contemporary instrumentalists. It’s not the first thing that might come to mind when recalling an artist best known for machine grooves and moody funk—but that’s what makes the move so quintessentially Maayan.

As if that weren’t enough, Maayan is no stranger to collaborative efforts. Working with Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves as Uli Künkel, she’s put out EPs for Kalimari and Phonocult. And Mara Trax, Maayan’s DJ/production duo with Frankfurt’s Vera, is a force to be reckoned with in its own right. The pair has recorded for Oslo and Cyclical Tracks, and their Resident Advisor podcast introduced their lean, loose-limbed style to listeners the world over. The most fortunate fans, of course, have caught Mara Trax in their native terrain: the club, where their long, evolving tag-team sessions generate a rare kind of energy—the essense and spirit of house music, of dance music itself.

The diversity of Mayaan’s sound	is no doubt a result of an unusually global upbringing. Born in Tel Aviv, she lived in the Mediterranean city for most of her life, studying multimedia and, following a six-month stay in New York, beginning to DJ bars and small parties. Tel Aviv isn’t a big place, though, and so when Mayaan came to feel that she had hit a wall in her home town, she packed her bags and set off to travel the world. Argentina was her ultimate destination. But after a six-month stint in Amsterdam, she found her way to Berlin, which turned out to be exactly she was looking for. Inspiration was everywhere, from the avant-garde Club Transmediale festival to Jamie Lidell’s experiments in live sampling to, of course, the city’s legendary underground party scene. She soaked up everything, building up her studio and experimenting with different sounds and processes, gradually inching towards the dance floor. Five years later, she remains in Berlin, making music and molding the contours of the city’s clubs to fit her own inimitable vision.

It’s impossible to reduce Mayaan’s productions and DJ sets to a single sound, but certain qualities prevail: a loping, swinging, hips-and-ass-friendly sense of the groove; a bubbling sense of funk; a keen sense of timbre and tone color, with a wooly low end and crystalline highs. It’s also possible to discern a certain sense of humor, as well—nothing over the top, simply the occasional wink or sly grin as a riff steps out and takes its star turn. Like the best musicians, Maayan’s work is all about communication. No wonder she understand the dance floor so well, making her a regular fixture at clubs and events like Tokyo’s Colors Studio, Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson, New York’s Wolf + Lamb, Belgium’s Decadance, Amsterdam’s Mono-Club, Jerusalem’s Pacotek, Switzerland’s Hive Club and Cityfox @ Alta Börse, and many more—as well as her “space monkeys unite!” nights at Watergate and Arena Club in Berlin.

Biography

Always on the lookout for new sounds and fresh music, the sets of this French-born, Berlin-based Dj provide a fine example of what is happening at the moment. With the explosion of the minimal scene, Mary adds to hit her very own touch. She continuously expresses her love for the German sound every time she takes the decks.

Bloody Mary grew up in the region of Aix en Provence. Her favorite musical genre was new wave until she went to her first rave party and discovered the world of electronic dance music. This revelation inspired her to give it a go herself, and she did her first gig in Marseille only one year after acquiring her first pair of turntables.

Bloody Mary soon got booked all over the South of France, establishing herself as a strong figure on the techno scene – Docs des Suds (Marseille), Splash Festival, Dragonbal Festival …

2005: Bloody Mary held a monthly residency at Studio88 (Aix en Pce). Her subsequent move to Berlin took her career to an international level. She regularly played in various cities and clubs in Germany (Watergate Berlin, Harryklein Munich…) and Europe (The End – London, Rex Club – Paris, Cassero – Bologna…). This was only the beginning of her productive career.

2006: Having already focused on her Djing abilities, she set up her studio to make tracks that will go along the lines of her favorite label! This led to her debut release, “Apparence” on Sender Records.

2007: As a producer, she had her second release on Sender in addition to remix for Nomor Records. As a DJ, she expanded her territory, which now includes South America (Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia…) and North America (NYC).

2008: In the studio, Mary began collaborating with Sierra_Sam, and they released a pair of EPs, the first on Einmaleins, and another on ToyForBoys, who will also release her first DJ mix compilation Tanz mit mir this June. Surrounding the release, she makes her return to the US including a stop in Detroit.

Outside of her solo work, she is one-third of the newly formed group Gypsy Family, along with her friends Quenum (Cadenza) and Dachshund (Num), who will release their first EP on Contexterrior in June.

2009: Bloody Mary released her debut full-length “Black Pearl”, also the first artist album to appear on the label Contexterrior in its seven-year history. The album revealed a wider picture of her personality to the public, filled with emotion, and it was her best experience so far as a producer! She and the label also released three vinyl EPs corresponding to the album, including remixes by Jay Haze, Sasche Funke, Shonky, Alex Celler and Sierra Sam.

Mary made her first tour in Asia (playing in China and Japan), and also her first appearance at the legendary Fabric, London. She also rocked the USA and Mexico a few more times starting at Christmastime.

2010: After building up a successful DJ and production career, what’s a girl to do next? For Bloody Mary, the next logical step is to launch her own record label. Dame-Music will be a hub for tracks from talent she has befriended over the years in the worldwide techno/house scene. Not pinned down by any particular sound, the label’s output will adhere to only one rule: music that Bloody Mary would include within her DJ sets. For those not lucky enough to have already heard her play, that means: powerful yet refined, invigorating, and ultimately optimistic.

With residencies at Ibiza’s Zoo Project and London’s LikeThat parties, regular international performances in leading clubs and events, and releases in top labels Cadenza and 8Bit, Pablo Cahn is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents to have arisen in recent years, remarkably supplying dance floors worldwide with his fresh take on Techno and House Music.
Born and raised in Colombia, Pablo had his first contact with electronic music during a trip to the UK and immediately started collecting records. This new obsession made him turn away the Salsa and Merengue dancehalls of his hometown Bogota in favor of the underground Techno & House parties of the then thriving local scene becoming in the process one of the youngest ravers in town. One thing lead to another and by the time he was 16 he was playing almost every major party in the local circuit. Driven by a strong passion for the music and frustrated by the minimum amount of records that made it to the other side of the Atlantic, he later moved to London where he’s been polishing his Djing and production skills ever since and is currently an active member of the local scene as a DJ, promoter and party animal.
Having built a reputation for always rocking a crowd, his Dj sets are known for their versatility and dynamism ranging from dub-infected house and minimal grooves all the way up to ‘party’ techno constantly keeping a distinct groove and flow somehow resemblant to his Latin roots. These traits together with a seamless ability to choose the right record at the right time and an ever increasing record collection spanning over 10 years have got Pablo to play some of the world’s most renowned clubs including Fabric and Tbar in London, Weekend and Watergate in Berlin and Undeground in Ibiza.
On the production front, Pablo draws from his many influences to construct varied original pieces that cheekily hover between the realms of House and Techno never failing to make their way into the record bags of the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Loco Dice, Laurent Garnier and Marco Carola. His breakthrough Descarga EP on Cadenza Records laid the soundtrack for the summer of 2009 being played by every cat in the hood and was one of the top charted releases of the year.
With a solo EP on Cadenza, a track for Leftroom under his ‘Fruko Y Sus Quesos’ moniker and a string of remixes in the horizon, Pablo is definitely one to watch in 2010. Stay tuned…

Despite a personality dripping with sharp wit and a seeming inability to take anything TOO seriously, Alex Jones the DJ/Producer is seriously one of the brightest lights in house music in the UK.

A resident DJ at the legendary Big Beat Boutique alongside an emerging Radio Slave, Jones has since established himself as a versatile yet focused DJ who delivers sharp, modern house and techno with a distinctly trippy edge.

Via further residencies with seminal nights and clubs such as Electric Stew, 333, Dovebridge Studios, and his own Synth Nymph nights, Jones embedded himself in the massively fertile London scene which has subsequently borne talent such as Giles Smith, James Priestly, Jamie Jones and many more. Playing alongside jocks as varied as Robert Hood, Simian Mobile Disco and Maurice Fulton gave Jones a true understanding of the full spectrum of dance music – something that is more than evident in his production work today.

2004 saw the beginning of this production work as well as the creation of London debauchery hotbed Retox. The studio, though, was shamefully underused due to the residency at Retox – a Sunday night/Monday morning party which ultimately took a massive toll on Jones’ personal life.

A rethink and restock resulted in three pivotal moments for Alex; the creation of Hypercolour with close friend and Playground promoter Jamie Russell, a renewed focus on his production and his departure from Retox.

The production started quickly, a testament to Alex’s talent as the transition from novice to one of London’s most talked about producers was immensely fast due to his releases for Hypercolour, Viva Music, Glimpse Recordings, Kindisch, XL, No.19, murmur and Tiga’s Turbo imprint. His A&R skills have not gone unnoticed either, as most of the worlds dance music magazines have heaped praise on Hypercolour output from new like talent like Kris Wadsworth, Matt Star, Tom Demac and Jones himself.

With a DJ diary which now includes the likes of Watergate, Tresor and Fabric as well as a residency at Steve Lawlers’s VIVa night coupled with forthcoming productions for Tsuba, Hypnotone, Kindisch, Bloop, Tartelet, Kitsune plus his 2 new labels Losing Suki & Glass Table, Alex Jones is certainly one to keep a constant eye on.

Biography

Spencer Parker is one of Europe’s leading dj’s, his unique style of house music is in demand the world over and with his productions, remixes and re-edits being supported by such names as Radio Slave, Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Ben Watt, Nic Fanciulli and Pete Tong, the future looks bright.

Spencer’s style is simply best described as underground electronic house music. Preferred record labels range from the techno stylings of Oslo, Planet E, Liebe Detail, and Rekids through to the uber-cool house of Buzzin Fly, Ibadan, Tsuba and Objektivity. A set from Spencer would include acid house and techno alongside some cool jackin’ tracks and the odd trippy vocal. Spencer has held some highly successful residencies in his home town of London and continues to regularly guest at the capitals best clubs, including Fabric and The End, as well as being in demand worldwide, with recent visits alone including Russia, Germany, China, America, Australia, France, Italy and Romania.

In 2005 Spencer began his production career with the release of his debut single “Open Your Eyes” and followed it up the following year with “Beautiful Noise”, on Radio Slave’s newly launched Rekids label. Early copies garnered support from names such as Nic Fanciulli, Clive Henry, X Press 2, Ben Watt and Pete Tong. In addition to “Beautiful Noise” Spencer also released the much hyped single “Neon” in early 2007 on the London based Tsuba label. Already becoming an anthem for Nic Fanciulli after constant play at his Space (Ibiza) residency, “Neon” was supported by such names as James Zabelia and Laurent Garnier with both John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo adding it to their latest compilations.

In addition to producing original material, Spencer often remixes or re-edits some of the hottest tracks around to give himself an exclusive secret weapon to play and make his dj sets completely original. Recent official remixes include “Freaky Bleepy” for Ben Watt’s excellent Buzzin’ Fly imprint, the DC10 anthem “Alcoolic” for Cr2, the lead single from Nic Fanciulli’s Skylark album, “All I See” and Spencer’s well received remix of Foremost Poets’ “Moonraker” for NRK Records. Also, although unlikely to see a release, more than a few people have been asking about his hot re workings of Ricardo Villalobos’ “Enfants” and Akefe Iku’s huge “Mirror Dance” track.

In 2008, Spencer’s production schedule has really stepped up a gear. First out the gates was his collaboration with Diesel (as co.Lab) entitled “Music Box” on Satoshi Tommie’s SAW Recordings label. Techno influenced but with a definite house sound, “Music Box” garnered support from Riche Hawtin, Luciano, Ewan Pearson and Radio Slave. To follow this, Spencer released his second single on Tsuba entitled “e Lucia” and his debut single on Buzzin’ Fly “Chiho”. “The Dreamer EP” and “Romantic” single, both due on Rekids will be out at the tail end of this year along with the second co.Lab single, “Zanzibar”, on Saved Records. Never one to rest on his laurels, February 2009 will see Spencer’s debut release on Germany’s uber-cool Liebe*Detail label.

Spencer is an experienced and adaptable dj that knows how to warm up for big names intelligently as well as rock a main room in his own right, anywhere in the world. Now, with his production and remixing skills developing at a rapid rate, and releases on some of the worlds best underground house labels, the package is complete.

Alex Niggemann can be best described as idiosyncratic, impulsive and self-critical. What might be construed as negative for some people, are attributes that have paved the way to a remarkable career for this DJ and producer.
Born 1984 in Dusseldorf, Niggemann is a producer, DJ and label owner. His development until 2010 reflects a fairly traditional approach to becoming a DJ. At the same time, his career represents a very personal evolution.
Alex is erratic – in a truly human way. In the nineties, his impulsiveness led him to discover that playing classical piano was indeed very limiting. This motivated him to search for a more rewarding means of self- expression. As a teenager, he dressed in typical hip-hop fashion and spent his time focusing on rap and style-writing. When he was fifteen, his older brother took him to a techno party. This became the turning point for the young, headstrong musician and pointed the way in a new direction. By the time he was sixteen, Alex had picked up some turntables and transformed his room into a studio. The DJ scene in Dusseldorf was a close-knit network in 2000. Not everyone with talent who knocked on the door was invited to take his place on the DJ decks in the local clubs.
Niggemann decided to make a name for himself as a producer. He started working on techno tracks and soon turned to house. Gradually he found his way to the club turntables. Using an assortment of aliases he was soon playing clubs in the Dusseldorf area and gained recognition as a resident DJ. But Alex wanted more.
Alex was in search of something much bigger and better. After graduating high school in 2005, he headed for Europe’s epicenter of electronic music. In Berlin he studied audio engineering to hone his skills as a producer. Besides he started working for DJ-T. His job was to run errands, capture vinyl, mix tracks and archive records.
The influential Get Physical label discovered in 2006 that they had a promising young producer in their own ranks. This led to the release of Booka Shade’s “Darko” remixed on a vinyl EP featuring established artists including Tiefschwarz and Radio Slave. Careful networking soon led to a string of DJ gigs all over Germany. From this point forward, Alex performed exclusively under his own name.
After finishing his degree in 2007, Alex started focusing more on his music career. But, as a typical perfectionist, he could never get his own productions just the way he wanted them. Fortunately, Marc Poppcke, friend and current label partner, decided to submit one of Niggemann’s tracks to a label. This led to the first release under his own name and ‘Assign Me’ debuted on Sportclub in 2008.
Things started to snowball in 2008 when a number of tracks and remixes were released on labels including Meerestief, Micro.fon, Moonpool, Sportclub and Freak Waves. In summer Alex was signed to Supernature, the home label for Audiofly, a UK duo. Niggemann’s ‘Black Rose EP’ was released on the same label in May 2009 followed by his ‘Makayuni EP’ released on Nick Curly’s and Gorge’s 8bit records.
Be Chosen records released another Niggemann EP and remixes followed. His productions enjoy a solid reputation. So it was no surprise to see him being number 8 position on Resident Advisor’s “Top 20 Charted Artists” in the end of 2009 ahead of DJ’s such as Loco Dice, Joris Voorn or Ben Klock.
Niggemann’s bookings have taken him around the world. Gigs in North and South America and across Europe have become part of a standard business routine. Alex has been real busy in 2010. His ‘Play House EP’ was released in January on the dutch BlaBla records. The track ‘Jewels’ appearing on his own Soulfooled label and his ‘Take Control & Use Me!’ on Supernature this summer is destined to conquer the club scene. Alex is performing his DJ set throughout the summer season on Ibiza’s dance floors. While his latest production ‘Trippin’ is released in September on Tsuba, Niggemann will be headed for foreign shores with a tour schedule that takes him to Brazil and North America later in 2010.
Alex Niggemann launched his Soulfooled label together with Marc Poppcke and Oliver Fritsche from Superlounge in spring 2010 and the first record was released in June. The focus at Soulfooled is on creating a new music platform and promptly responding to the trends in the electronic music scene so that artists can release their music sooner. The label has already signed a number of famous international artists including Audiofly, Till von Seine Phonique and David Durango. Soulfooled artists represent a cross-section of electronic styles ranging from Deep House and Techhouse, to old school disciplines like Detroit and Chicago House. One important aspect is that they are expected to uphold the Niggemann standards. His solid reputation has opened the door to some of the world’s leading, most influential clubs, including Ibiza’s Privilege and Watergate in Berlin.
One of the things that distinguishes Alex Niggemann’s style is that it’s hard to define. This headstrong producer isn’t interested in sub-genres and likes to describe himself as a House DJ. He produces and plays whatever suits him at the moment: from dark tech house to vocal-heavy house music. Either way, he’s always right on target with the club crowds who dance to his music all night long – all over the world. Wherever his mood takes him, the club scene will be paying close attention to what comes next on Alex Niggemann’s turntables.

Chicago-based Kate Simko is a classical pianist turned left field house and techno producer. Releasing music on labels such as Spectral Sound, Kupei Musika and Traum, Kate draws from a wide range of influences, combining her sense of melody and structure with her background in Chicago house and Detroit techno. Whether playing live or DJ’ing, Kate’s musical selection maintains a warm, soulful character, full of funky bass lines and loose rhythms.

A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ’s in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. Her music has received positive remarks in zines such as The Wire, XLR8R, de:Bug, Mixmag, URB, BPM and Remix and her Detalles project was named one of the ‘Next 100′ artists by URB magazine. Kate has performed at festivals such as Mutek (Montreal and Chile), the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Worldtronics (Berlin), and has played beside a myriad of genre defining artists throughout the United States, Europe and South America.

Growing up studying piano and music theory, Kate discovered underground dance music during her teens and began DJ’ing at college station WNUR in 1998. At this time, Kate made a switch from a degree in classical piano to electronic music composition. In 2001, Kate moved to Santiago, Chile, where she continued her studies in music composition and met Andres Bucci. Bucci and Simko combined forces and have since recorded two full-length records together as Detalles (Traum , Kupei Musika).

Back in her hometown of Chicago, Kate is honing her talents, producing and performing full time. Kate is continually evolving as an artist, combining her wide range of influences into her own music, creating a unique personal sound that crosses genre borders, blending rich textures, melodies and intricate programming with funky bass and groove.
