Eulberg’s music has often been inspired by nature, which makes sense for a former biology student whose past professions include forest park ranger. Diorama could be his earthiest album yet, which each track devoting itself to one of the 11 “wonders of domestic nature,” which Eulberg picked out with the help of German nature magazine NABU. Wonders that made the cut include bats, the bee orchid, the glow worm, the Icelandic cyperine, water and ants. Each of these gets its own blurb in the liner notes, explaining just what makes this particular wonder so great. “One ant alone is not capable of big achievements,” Eulberg writes. “But through the brilliant, self-organised state formed out of millions of ants, a collective intelligence comes into being.”
Traum will release Diorama on May 9th, 2011.

As heard on our Radio show this Morning… could not resist posting this outstanding Mix… complete with Chaim Interview… Kiki will be Making 6 resident Appearances on NOICE! this year… keep your ears peeled…

and Enjoy the Sounds Of Kiki… Joakim Ijäs was born in Helsinki, but has now found his home in Berlin. Initial forays into making sounds with violins and pianos soon gave hway to the mechanical beats of hip-hop, mixed together with more popular sounds whilst playing at school discos before he was even a teenager. With such an early start it was no surprise that before he was old enough to enter a club, Kiki was holding down a weekly residency at Helsinki’s Tempo club, which was swiftly followed by another at the Smile club.

A move to Berlin in 1994 to study Architecture was the catalyst for Kiki to step in to the realms of a serious DJ. Impressing the legendary Masters At Work at a Marlboro DJ competition led to him securing gigs at Berlin’s three cathedrals of techno -Tresor, Pfefferbank and WMF. Gigs in Berlin and Germany were soon followed by a string of international bookings and the release of an infamous three deck mix for Sonnenhaus which led to DE:BUG worrying about the health of his fingers. With his profile as a DJ growing it was two short steps to releasing his first record on Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control label in 2001, who through a happy coincidence he had met when the pair were double booked to play the same DJ slot. Since then Kiki has become an integral part of the BPitch family growing into a truly international artist, sharing his love of energetic and hypnotic music across the globe from Mexico, to Tokyo and making a little bit of history along the way. With an output that has been nothing short of prolific, Kiki has released a number of genre defining records both as himself and later with partner in crime Silversurfer. Kiki was the first artist asked to put together a mix for the now legendary Boogy Bytes series, and has been asked to provide remixes and productions for labels as diverse as Bugged Out, Playhouse and Crosstown Rebels where he had the honour of being the first artist releasing on the label. His debut album Run With Me, released on Bpitch Control, was an international success, and led to the video for “Shake Off” (a collaboration with Silversurfer and Captain Comatose) being playlisted by MTV. More recently a collaboration with Sasse and his Moodmusic imprint led to the release of the excellent Grand Cru – a modern club classic already. However, as he has grown and matured, a yearning to explore deeper and more personal forms of expression in music, has led to Kiki working on his follow up to his debut album. Without forgetting his roots in the club, Kiki has reigned back the short sharp thrill of 12” releases to concentrate on his second album.

And so the next chapter begins. Kiki is set to release Kaiku (which means echo in Finnish) in late spring of 2009. Like a musical calling card it combines all of the elements that can only be learned through a life dedicated to music and musical expression. Where the space between house and techno and electronic music becomes blurred to the point of irrelevance and the feeling and emotions created by the music

Well it is the end of another year, and we are happy to have had some of the best artists in the world do mixes for us. recently on our radio show, we had the privilege of hosting a series with one of our favorite labels, “Get Physical”. this set was recorded exclusively for NOICE! and aired on www.protonradio.com this past week. we are proud to end the year with the lovely sounds of M.A.N.D.Y. ENJOY : )

The story of M.A.N.D.Y. begins on a tennis court in Saarbrücken, near the German-French border. That’s where Patrick Bodmer met Philipp Jung on a summer’s day over twenty years ago. They grew to become great friends, and together dreamt of a way to make a living out of their shared loves: collecting records, throwing parties, meeting girls, making friends and laughing. Alas, these idle plans soon had to make way for sensible adult concerns and they parted ways.

At 25 Patrick and Philipp were reunited in Frankfurt, then the hub of Germany’s flourishing house and techno scene. Philipp worked for Snap’s record company; Patrick studied and lived as a painter. They began their first forays into music with releases on local independent imprints and devised their unofficial Lust (eng: joy, zest, delight) parties as an excuse to play records. Later Patrick acquired an old brewery as an atelier – this space served as a cauldron bubbling with their ideas, art and wanton personal experimentation. This period came to a close in 1997 and the final twang of traditional career values saw Philipp move firstly to Cologne as A&R for Jive, and later to Berlin to do the same job for V2. Patrick finished studying before taking a sensible day job he quickly came to detest.

Over the next years the pair consumed music, raved and span records at every opportunity. DJ T and Patrik (The Sunsetpeople), from Frankfurt’s Monza club, heard them play at a party and noticed them on the dancefloor, stamping their feet and ripping their clothes in sheer delight. The four became close friends, and M.A.N.D.Y. have held a Monza residency since 2001. In the past couple of years Monza has spread its wings to Ibiza, London and beyond to become a truly global concern. Soon after their old pals Arno and Walter (Booka Shade) joined M.A.N.D.Y. in Frankfurt. The four intensified their work together and once again there was talk of starting a label. The first official M.A.N.D.Y. release, a remix of French electronic band Galleon, became a big-selling chart sensation; DJ work poured in but they couldn’t reconcile their musical values with the commercial scene and they abandoned it after a few short months.

M.A.N.D.Y. liken their next moves to a last exit, a final chance to do something special. They decided to found a label with their friends Booka Shade and DJ T, utilising the talent of their circle of close friends. They called it Get Physical: in tribute to the dancefloor; in memory of their meeting; and for their love of disco, with a nod to Olivia Newton-John. Get Physical was born of pure desire, the need to create something tangible out of a lifelong passion. In 2002, M.A.N.D.Y.and Booka Shade moved to Berlin seeking a new creative kick. What they found was a confluence of artists and ideas, and a constant shower of music to immerse themselves in and be inspired by – M.A.N.D.Y., Booka Shade and Get Physical have been based there ever since.

Over the past five years M.A.N.D.Y. have come into their own as artists and DJs. Mixing the first Get Physical label compilation in 2004 sent their sound beyond Europe but it was their collaboration with Booka Shade, ‘Body Language’, which sealed their reputation: the track became a bona fide anthem across the globe and was voted Ibiza’s Track of the Season and DJ Magazine’s Track of the Year for 2005. This was followed by the ‘Body Language Vol. 1’ mix CD – DJ Magazine’s Mix CD of the Year – wherein Philipp and Patrick joined the dots between electro-influenced house and disco and the prevalent minimal techno sound In 2006 came M.A.N.D.Y.’s contribution to the ‘At The Controls’ mix series – a double CD which flitted effortlessly between genres and which showed a more sensuous side to the M.A.N.D.Y. sound without compromising their underground, electronic house edge. The mix picked up a host of awards, including Mix CD of the Year from Resident Advisor, BBC Essential Mix and Mixmag in the UK. They kick started 2008 by brining their talents to the Fabric mix series and are currently working on a new album.

Philipp and Patrick are much sought after remixers, having worked with artists as diverse as The Knife, Tiefschwarz feat. Tracey Thorn, Sugababes, Hans Peter Lindstrom, Joakim, Royksopp and Fischerspooner, The Klaxons, Mathew Dear; the “12 Great Remixes for 11 Great Artists” compilation collects some of their finest efforts on one disc and is testament to the variety and reach of their productions. Meanwhile, their DJing talents are in constant demand across the world, and they regularly rock floors and festivals from Buenos Aires to Sydney, New York to Moscow. Though they travel the globe on what seems to be a neverending tour, they nonetheless treasure the family vibe that gave birth to them as artists and continues to support them in Berlin. For M.A.N.D.Y. this isn’t a job and it isn’t about success; it’s about partnership and friendship and a realization that dreams can come true. It’s about seriously good music, and it’s still about those four things which bonded them in the first place: collecting records, throwing parties, meeting girls, making friends and laughing…

Enjoy this amazing little Musical excursion from our friends @ Tailored Communications… Featuring the Lovely talents of Exercise one…

One is the loneliest number unless you’re talking about Exercise One, the Berlin duo of Marco Freivogel and Ingo Gansera. Proprietors of the Lan Muzic label and frequent contributors to Anja Schneider’s mobilee imprint, the two are quickly becoming recognized as key figures in Berlin’s rapidly revitalizing techno movement and as representatives of the scene’s enduring communal spirit. After meeting through jobs at !K7, the two soon began working together in a basement studio in Kreuzberg, where they shared the space with a rowdy crew of noisemakers Luciano, Memo and, for a time, Jeremy P. Caulfield. It was Caulfield who kickstarted Exercise One’s career when, after hearing one of their early live sets, he encouraged them to send out demos. Shortly thereafter, they released their first 12″ record, “Roll With You,” including a Jeremy P. Caulfield remix, on Mofa Schallplatten.

In 2005, Exercise One launched Lan Muzic. Its debut release, the Kitchentools EP, included tracks by Exercise One and Memo a longside a Luciano remix; the record quickly found its way into discerning DJs’ boxes everywhere. Anja Schneider supported the project on her Radio Fritz show and then invited them to record for her own label. The Easy Things EP, featuring a Duplex 100 remix, became mobilee’s fourth release. In a very short time, Exercise One have gone on to remix Sweet N Candy and Peter van Hoesen, collaborate with Italy’s Donato Dozzy, and release two more singles: the Debaya EP (mobilee) and the 12 Years EP (Lan Muzic).

With appearances at summer festivals like Melt!, Fusion and Bittersweet, and acclaimed gigs like mobilee’s pre-Sónar 2006 showcase, Exercise One’s live reputation is growing. While many computer-oriented artists vainly attempt to recreate studio productions in a live context, Exercise One work the other way around, jamming and improvising for hours on end, then editing the results into tight, focused tracks that never lose their sense of spontaneity. Over rhythms alternately supple and spiky, Exercise One layer hypnotic basslines and twisting sequences. Favoring the long view, they let their tracks stretch out, covering massive musical distances in a single easy bound. Informed by minimal, their music nonetheless refuses to hold back. They’re tricksters, no doubt, switching up downbeats and rolling out melodies like lopsided marbles, but it’s all in good fun: every game is a gift that keeps on giving.

RADIQ is the role as recycle equipment which revives memory of term that roots music was filled with creativity, extremely physical and shown off its heat, and also the function as lighting equipment which displays much more «the future» inlaying such roots into the modern context. « Music which is hot as blood and transparent as water» This is the word that Yoshihiro HANNO who symbolized, blessed and sticked to «diversity of music» itself without fear in his various musical styles had explained in his own words placing the word as common feeling through all of his works. This word is brilliantly penetrated also on RADIQ. It will be «hotness of blood» indicates «thickness with history of black music» and «transparency of water» does «to progress it boldly without limitation of its roots». This is exactly the core of «the music»: Yoshihiro HANNO.

Today …. we start the 1st of a 5 part series with the French Hello Bookings agency. Please welcome to the Decks … Jef K.

A native of Paris, Jef K started mixing records in 1992 after spending nine months in London. His deep, groovy and sexy house sets made him quickly earn a reputation as one of the fastest rising DJs amongst the French house scene. Jef had a Saturday monthly residency at the legendary Rex Club from 1998 until 2002 and is a resident for the “Respect” nights all over the world. He had a monthly residency at Fuse in Brussels for four years and plays regularly at Robert Johnson in Frankfurt. He has played festivals such as Les Plages Sonores in Montpellier, Soma, Lunacy, etc. A huge traveler, bringing his skills to the top clubs in Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Shangai, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Buenos Aires, and many other cities around the world. In 1996, Jef worked A & R for the French label Distance. Since then, he has been responsible for six compilations on the label- five volumes of the “My House” series, and the third volume of the «French Sessions» series. These compilations had a great response nationally and internationally, and were rated «Compilation Of The Year» by magazines such as Coda and Trax.

In 1997, Krypton/ Sony France released Jef’s “Paris-Chicago Express” CD- a Cajual and Relief compilation. In the same year, he and Cyril K (E-Troneek Funk) produced a track called “First Step” which appeared on the “Aline Can Dance” compilation project released by Small/Sony. In June 2000, “Watch Out! 2000” was released- another mix-CD reflecting Jef’s residency at the Watch Out! Party at the Rex Club. In 1999, Jef teamed up with his brother Antoine, aka DJ Tony Silver, to launch the Silver Network and Fast Forward FFWD record labels. Silver Network’s first release by Iz & Diz- the What We Need EP, appeared in the Hype Chart of DJ Magazine and was given four stars by MUZIK. It was later remixed by Pepe Bradock and Freaks. The first Fast Forward release by E-Troneek Funk was rated a five out of five twice in MUZIK and appeared in UPDATE reviews.

Jef started a new label with partner Holmar Filipsson, Crack & Speed. The first release was out in the spring of 2002. The label was closed in 2008 and had a huge response by the press and international DJ’s. In 2009, Jef teamed up again with his old friend / partner Chris Carrier and released three new Silver Network references. «Morning EP», «Chaka EP» and «Fever EP». All three of them had great response from press and DJ’s. The track «Morning» was compiled by the famous artist Agoria for his forthcoming mix-CD called «Balance» (Stomp Music Australia).

Watch out for Jef & Chris new project together with legendary Chez Damier (Chicago) under the name The Gathering to be released in summer 2010 and who’s already doing a huge buzz on the net … You’ve been warned !! …. Jef K. is currently on tour for Silver Network and C&S and rocking dancefloors around the world…

The Runners are the bright and talented new production duo based between the creative flowing city of Bristol (UK) and the white Isle of Ibiza. Two ‘heads’ with a good friendship, mutal understanding and passion for music. Kevin Cook (Welt Recordings) and Luke Turner a.k.a Lukas (Dirt Crew) have struck the kind of chord that ticks all the boxes for forming a collaboration to end up with some very dope results. Their first EP ‘Woman Pleaser’ was swiftly picked up by hot Berliners Dirt Crew Recordings, for which friend and rising star Jay Shepheard jumped on board to front a rather special remix. In as little as 12 months, they have picked up some major support across the industry with a string of recent follow up releases for Dirt Crew and Welt Recordings – getting props from an impressively diverse bunch: Luciano, Ben Watt, Derrick May – and more besides. With lots of new ideas and projects brewing, they look set to step into the spotlight. Look forward to many new things in 2010 from this dynamic duo..

So today we have something very special for all you NOICE! listeners. We are very happy to welcome back one of our favorite artists to the Podcast. Today … doing an exclusive Liveset for NOICE! we welcome the amazingly talented and Uber Busy Jens Zimmerman.

“Normally, I produce my music during the night therefore you should listen to it during the night” (Groove Magazine 111). Jens Zimmermann..s creed is clear: He feels most comfortable when the light is off, the fog-machine is rolling and he is able to generate his personal microcosm in order to stimulate the crowd euphorically. Jens Zimmermann..s music can be categorized in the “Minimal-Section,” but with his very own interpretation. His organic productions with reduced and heavy-bass nature are up to date without neglecting his roots which are shaped by the intensity and the roughness of the early 90..s. The unique tension between tightness and experimental pleasure on the one hand, energy and functionality on the other hand nearly puts a spiritual aura on his tracks. Zimmermann..s catechism also appears in his DJ-Sets implementing a large amount of his own productions which makes every set special. He has a mania for endless transitions, works with self-produced loops and chooses the right effect for the right time. Unique releases on labels like Snork Enterprises, International Freakshow or Kompakt, exactly mirrors Zimmermann..s philosophy of “The non-resisting groove which has to be pumping”. Moreover his sound is highly regarded by contemporary artists like Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin. Ever since, Jens Zimmermann has developed a high interest in all sorts of technique. During his youth he modified a polygraph to be able to listen to his friends’ brain-waves. At the age of twelve he discovered his biggest passion – the DJing! In combination with his ground breaking experience gained at “Dorian Gray”, a former club in Frankfurt, he fell in love with electronic music. In the beginning of the 90..s, Zimmermann started to produce Techno and his release, “Running” on the label “Abfahrt” as a member of the project “Tyrell Corp,” became a hit in the underground-scene. Later, he switched from Techno to Drum ..n.. Bass, a valuable time showing him the right handling of Dubplates and “pure” electronic signals. Inspired by the direct and straight nature of pulsating grooves and bassdrums, Jens Zimmermann has returned full of passion and ideals to his old love “Techno” – confirmed by a release on the label “Room Recordings” in 2005. Moreover you can find his tracks in recent compilations courtesy of the Londoner Fabric and Frankfurter Cocoon Club – a fact proving that the “Sound-Scientist” has an influential impact on the scene. Jens Zimmermann loves to be independent and doesn..t want to make compromises in the field of art. Steady development is his propulsion!

During his career he’s called a few music scenes his home, including Chicago and Miami, but Short’s greatest contributions musically have been in San Francisco. It is here that he has refined his diverse and restless tastes, allowing him to share stages with both fringe artists and dance floor populists. The reason his music can stand so comfortably at both ends of electronic music’s poles is due to his unique vision as a producer. A vision that was forged at the age of four, spending time each day with his stepfather in the recording studio pushing buttons and turning knobs on analog synths and Atari sequencers. Over the years, Short has also showed his daring presence as a DJ and live act at numerous events including the Cecille & Oslo showcase at the WMC (Winter Music Conference) 2009, the DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival) after parties in 2008 & 2009, Lovefest (San Francisco) 2008 & 2009, the SAMC (South American Music Conference) in Ecuador 2008, as well as other events in New York, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, and Los Angeles.

In 2010, Short has follow-up tours of South America and of Europe planned as well as releases on Auralism and Blipswitch Digital. He is also actively exhibiting his growing collection of unreleased material – adding to his already extensive discography. Some of this material includes dub oriented sounds co-produced with Dub Mission founder DJ Sep as well as a full-length album. His highly refined live sets are sure to make a big splash this year with an array of fat, analog synth lines and cutting edge drum machine programming. Few contemporaries are as bold as Short, with a sound best described as a dense, heavily layered thicket of techno containing bold contrasts of gentle mid range tones, deep space harmonics, and hefty bass surprises. Jason Short is an electronic musician on the cusp of greatness; this will be his year.

With Mathias Schaffhauser’s “Here There and Every Ware”, and P. Toile’s, “Perfect Circle”, NOICE! has become the host of several great podcast series. Now, please welcome the third monthly series to join our beloved monthly podcasts. NOICE! is proud to present The Venetian Production duo “The Cosmic Cowboys” with “Back and Forth”. enjoy

“Cosmic Cowboys” is a project born from the different styles of two young venetian producers: Nicola Sansoni aka Randomatique and Kaled Jabari aka Kaledj. Big friends since they were 10 years old, they got really soon into electronic music, influenced by artists as Ian Pooley, King Unique, Francois K, Chicken Lips, Santos, Frankie Knucles, Junior Jack and Kid Creme.

Everything started when they bought an old pair of technics 1200 and lot of old and new vinyls, playing them several hours a day and experimenting composition, creating a huge archive of loops and melodies. After some years playing and creating music together, in 2003 Nico moved to Frankfurt a.M. and also they’re musical tastes took different directions. Nico discovered the minimal-techno sound, listening artists as Someone Else, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Akufen and Pantytec while Kaled was getting into chill-out and lounge music and this brought him to create one of the biggest chill-out archive ever seen.

In 2007, after 2 years as solo djs/producers, they made a track together to experiment a common sound, a mix of club groove with a deep and housy touch, starting again their collaboration and taking the name of “Cosmic Cowboys”, thinking about this sound as “the romantic side of techno”. Very emotional also in their djset they try always to find a good mixture between groove and melodies with the target of creating soundscapes breathetaking but never forgetting what the dancefloor was made for.

They’re first 12″, the “Pier39 Ep” realized together with Apologist (Wave Music) got the support from international names as Brendon Moeller, Fish go Deep, James Talk, Hernan Cattaneo and Francois K, appearing also on the compilation from the famous venetian club “Il Muretto” selected and mixed by Alex Neri (Tenax). Released in december 2008 their EP on the prestigious german label Ostwind Records with “Rent a Starship” including Re-UP rmx, that has been played and charted by artists as Solomun, Hosh, Glimpse, Reynold, The Timewriter, Dubfire, Plastic FM, Dubnitzky and Lars Wikinger, being reviewed also on Deejay Magazine as one of the best records of 2008.

For 2009 in their release plan there are lot of tracks coming out on famous labels as Trenton, Musik Gewinnt Freunde, Ostwind, Tanzbar and Dilek toghether with works for the new label they founded with their friends Re-UP (Upon You, Microfibres).
This project named Kina Music that started in November 2008 is giving them the chance to collaborate with international artists and friends as Nicolas Duvoisin (SiteHolder), MaStaFaktor (Mina Rec), Alex Tsiridis (Trapez), Marcus Vector (Toys for Boys), Rio Padice (Mosaiko), Nhar (Mobilee), Marc Poppcke (Diynamic), Ed Davenport (Liebe*Detail), Paulo Olarte (Diynamic), Drei Farben House (Brut!), Varoslav (Supplement Facts) and is getting the attention of music lovers and djs from all aver the world.

Stroboscopic Artefacts

Any of various instruments used to observe moving objects by making them appear stationary, especially with pulsed illumination or mechanical devices that intermittently interrupt observation.
Stroboscopic Artefacts showcases adventures into electronic music from artists across the world. The label, as the name suggests, acts like a strobe light illuminating pioneering club sounds with each vinyl release. Stroboscopic Artefacts borrows the curiosity of a scientist to search the underground scene for the freshest and deepest Techno.
Stroboscopic Artefacts was launched in Berlin, September 2009 by Lucy.

Luca Mortellaro Aka Lucy was born in 1983 in Palermo (Italy). He begins his path in music production at the age of 16, experimenting with sounds and his first synthesizers. At the age of 18 he starts his djing career in central Italy, and when in 2006 he moved to live in Paris, he makes the decision to dedicate his whole life to making electronic music.

In 2007 he comes up with his debut solo EP titled “Open House” on QOKI Records, which immediately caught the attention of many renowned artists, such as James Holden who later presented Lucy’s work to the founder of Perspectiv Records Raphael Ripperton, who decided to release his second work titled “Glass Computer Ep” (Remixed by Masaya and Mark August) on his famed label.

Another track “Continuity Theory” born from the collaboration between him and his friend Rone has been signed up by Curle, one of the most respected underground labels.Lucy’s projects for the future include the birth of a new label and the “Dodeca” project (Dodeca is the name of the project born by melding together his skills with those of James Venturi).

Lucy’s dj sets are all played using a laptop with a midi controller, and are a fusion of minimal, techno and electro, which together build up an enjoyable and energetic mood for the dancefloors.

With more than 10 years DJ and Live-Act experience in the electronic music cosmos Andreas is one of the young troupers in the scene. Round about 50 releases, remixes and productions on vinyl plus other countless projects are just an abstract of what he is doing.

In 2003 he found the record label “Voltage Musique Records” together with Daniel Nitsch, Stefan Schuldt and
Markus Hille. This was a milestone with huge success, lifeblood and a base for several artists and remix artists all over the
world until today. Together with the Stefko Kruse and Daniel Nitsch from Northern-Germany he found “THE GLITZ” in 2007. The first single release on Voltage Musique was “THE GLITZ – White Line” which climbs to the Top1 of the German Club Charts and nearly every record shop charts all over the world. It was a huge success and a great start up for THE GLITZ.

In 2008 THE GLITZ released on labels like Pocketgame, Confused, Voltage Musique, Ostwind and Bond Records
plus a lot of compilation appearances with massive response. The Songs “White Line” and “Chatter” are listed in the Top 200 of the official German annual-charts in 2008 and in the Top 20 of the all time sale charts on decks records! At the same time Andreas published a lot of his solo productions on labels like “AREAL”, “Piemont”, “KarateMusik”, “Lordag”, “Voltage Musique”.
He did remix jobs for Xenia Beliayeva, Oscar, Daso & Pawas, Dan Reed, and many more. In 2008 he joined the “Plantag13” family around Stephan Bodzin & Oliver Huntemann and did his first release on the brand new record label “IDEAL-Audio” after the huge start up with Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann´s – Dios.

In January 2009 Andreas became an official “Tresor” club resident in Berlin and launched the booking agency “MFM-Booking” with “THE GLITZ”. His brand new side project called “Hennon” seems to go huge, on Stephan Bodzin´s personal imprint “Herzblut Recordings” in February 2009. “Hennon” is already played, charted and supported by Dj´s like Dubfire, Florian Meindl, Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann, Martin Eyerer, Oliver Koletzki and many many more!

Keep your ears open, your eyes wary and your bum next to the record dealer!

Since 2003, Mr. Kinder has been the highlight of Mathias Schaffhäuser’s label Ware Records. His records turn up amongst the sets of John Tejada, Richi Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Jennifer Cardini, Dubfire, Anja Schneider, DJ Karotte and Tiefschwarz . Ziggys production came out on labels like, Souvenir ( Tiefschwarz), Ware Records ( Mathias Schaffhäuser ), Minimood and Level Records . On all accounts, Ziggy’s live acts are prime time events for fearlessly bouncing the dance floor. He extraordinarily manages to energise his audience right into some magic-magnetic field of playfulness and maniacally congenial funk. Well, and it’s certainly not just his kinda exotic presence shining on stage but also his lusciously coloured baseline grooves that actually make you wanna get a new hair cut!! Be prepared and let your scissors move when he’ll take a chance…

At the end of the 90’s, after releasing the first output as part of “Headroom” on German and American labels, Patrik set up Native Diffusion records in 2000. This mainly featured his own productions and remixes from technoproducers such as Damon Wild, Inigo Kennedy, Takaaki Itoh & Hardcell.

2004 saw Headroom´s debut release on the classic New York-label Synewave getting licensed to the “Exhibitionist” CD and DVD compilation, compiled and mixed by world renowned DJ Jeff Mills, and as the popularity of their style of techno increased over the last years, remix offers also dropped in frequently. Patrik did one for fellow Swede Adam Beyer and his now classic Drumcode imprint, which shortly thereafter lead to more releases on Drumcode, and the sublabel Truesoul…Being a technical Dj with great sense for momentum and trackselection Patrik has played and continues to play praised gigs in the USA, UK, North- and South America, Japan, China and all across Europe.

In early 2005 a new project was found in “Agaric” where he explores deeper realms of techno and house and with productions on his well-received labelproject of colored limited ten-inch records entitled “We Are”, Patrik has gained appreciation from dj’s such as Richie Hawtin or James Holden, and you have seen a big change in performances as well as trackwork, where he excurts further and further away from playing the typical hard sound from which he was known, and more often than not he performs a deeper variety of tracks that hints of a new modern take on his early influences from the likes of Robert Hood, Wolfgang Voigt or Plastikman, still with high intensity and energetic rhythmbased sound.

Now the Native Diffusion label has since long been put on ice, and in 2007 Patrik started to perform liveacts all over the world with the Agaric project -premiering at one of the leading festivals for innovative electronic music in the Nordic countries “Public Service”. Early that year, nearly a decade after the debut on the Stockholm-label Loop Records and over one hundred vinyl-releases later, Agaric relocated to Berlin and got involved in the ever so evolving and vibrant electronic music scene there, playing gigs at local clubinstitutions such as Watergate, Arena Club, Tresor & Panorama Bar.

NOICE! In Conjunction with PullProxy are proud to present the 3rd mix in a series representing this great promotion company. Today we welcome the return of Paul Brtschitsch to NOICE! This is a very special podcast indeed… have a look at the podcast and you will see why as most of the tracks are done by Paul. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend.

Paul is not only a producer; he is also one of the rare genuine German Techno Live Acts, who still play live without laptop; just using his hardware. He has played at clubs and festivals all over the world since 1999.
Russia, Japan, Scandinavia Europe just to mention some places. His strength is defined by a timeless understanding of music and a distinct accuracy regarding arrangements as well as exploring new
sounds. With experiences at the legendary Omen club during Techno’s formative years in Germany in the early 90s and the sound of Detroit as a stylistic checkpoint in mind, Brtschitsch
developed his own narrative style over the course of twelve years, accessing a rich sonic pool, which is anything but related to the contemporary.

In 1996 Paul released his first record on the Tritone label which was directly discovered and played by worlds famous Jeff Mills.
At the same time he started to work at Neuton, a specialised vinyl distributior, where a lot of later becoming super stars used to work in the warehouse: Ricardo Villalobos, Heiko Laux, Anthony Rother, Andre Galluzzi
and Paul. That´s the reason why Taksi was founded in the same year with Pauls´s working mate DJ André Galluzzi. Their track „Schneesturm“ was picked up by Richie Hawtin´s Plus 8 and got a re- release including a remix of Richie in 2001. The duo released the full lengths „Rundfahrt“ and „Bordell“, as well as several tracks on labels like Force Inc., Ongaku and Music Man. Their Tracks become frequently played by DJ´s like Hawtin, Josh Wink and at least Sven Väth, which opens the door for André going as an artist to Cocoon in 2003.

Meanwhile Paul focused on his own productions. Since 2000 he released three albums under his name on the Frisbee label to critical acclaim („Surftronic“, „Venex“ and „Memory“). He always followed the concept of creating an album like one of his Live Sets – soft build up, hard middle, and consolable ending – without forgetting to explore never heard sonic spaces. When doing so, Brtschitsch does not rely on laptops and software. His set up is much more complex, resulting in the fact that he really is playing live and not triggering loops or arranging his studio material in front of a crowd. His sets last for one and a half to two hours and are always spontaneously crafted according to crowd and atmosphere.

In summer of 2006 he moved to Berlin and dropped a release on world famous Berghain´s imprint Ostgut Ton. „Twirl/Under“ was the second realease on the fresh founded label. In the same year he released a record on Belgiums famous and historical Label MusicMan called Infrared/Lowrider. The following year Paul decided to found his own label “Rootknox”with the philosophy of an interactive developing tree: “together from the roots up to the
treetop”. Seven releases were already released until today, which are already “en vogue” from Europe over the USA to Russia and Japan. One of this releases is Paul´s 5th solo Album which came out in summer 2009 “Me, myself and Live”. The title shows his 3 facets as producer, live act and collaborator.

In 2007 Paul co-produced Anja Schneider’s album debut “Beyond the Valley” released 2008 on her world known Label Mobilee. Both have a good working flow in the studio that´s the reason why Paul is the co-producer of almost all releases which came out titled “Anja Schneider” in behalf the last 2 years. “Belize”, “Mole”, “Beyond the Valley” and several Remixes for artists like Butane, Samuel Session and even German´s Pop Band “Rosenstolz”were produced by Paul and Anja. Together with Gabriel Ananda he contributed a track on his Label Karmarouge. Paul latest releases are coming out on Rootknox containing remixes by Anja Schneider, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and John Selway.

Falko Brocksieper first encountered electronic music in 1993 when attending numerous raves and clubs, and soon after he began acquiring his own skills as a DJ. The european rave-techno of the time was the initial counterpoint, after-which he discovered artists from Detroit, Chicago and the Midwest, such as Robert Hood, Woody McBride, Daniel Bell and Jeff Mills.

In 1997 he moved from his hometown to Cologne, where he gained further influences from the city’s vibrant minimal-techno and electronica scene. As he had already acquired experience with sequencing programs as a child on the Amiga 500, in 1999, during his studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and amidst various activities in media design, video art and installation, he decided to focus on electronic music production.

Falko Brocksieper’s first vinyl record was released in 2001 on Sub Static label, which he founded in cooperation with Mia Grobelny at that time. Further releases quickly followed on labels such as Treibstoff, Tuning Spork, Resopal, Dumb Unit and Tongut.

In 2003 he put out his first album “Hoax Deluxe”, refining his style between hypnotic minimalism and an edgy analog sound. With his unique sound, he became high in demand as a remixer and produced remixes for Akufen, Basteroid, Gabriel Ananda, Dirt Crew, Sid LeRock, Dapayk & Padberg, Benjamin Fehr and many more. In 2003 he founded his second label, Karloff Rekordings, with the intention of providing a seperate playground for more experimental musical approaches to techno and house. With over 100 releases altogether so far, Sub Static and Karloff have become renowned brands in electronic music today.

Falko Brocksieper moved to Berlin in 2004, in order to infuse fresh energy in his music production and record labels and he released his second album “Heavy Day” in 2008. With the release of ‘Heavy Day’, Brocksieper used the album tour as an opportunity to bring about his first ever live sets which he continues to perform together with over 10 years experience as an international DJ.

Imagine somebody who was born in Poona, India. At the age of five, he used the dance floor of his father’s disco as a playground. All this as well as growing up with the music of Miles Davis, Hendrix and Radio pop.

Daso is one of the most talented newcomers in the recent electronic music circus. Out of the blue, Daso’s debut record “Daybreak” (MBF Rec., 2006) turned into a long run success for the Techno peak time moments in clubs around the world.

Like many others, Spectral Sound became attentive to Daso’s music and decided to publish the young artist living in Cologne. “Meine” was a result of this intervention, a truly extraordinarily techno hymn.

Daso impresses everyone with a wide range & diversity of work. From Disco-House with 80’s pop afterburner on MBF to Minimal on Connaisseur records, where he published “Thujon”. The track, which was the climax on the Mixmag’s Dubfire Compilation, investigates the depths of smashing Italo disco and positively charged Hi-Tech-Trance.

Daso releases on labels such as Flash Records, Session Deluxe, Motor Music and more. His tracks are played by many prominent DJs and can be found on countless compilations. His specific “Pop approach” is a constant element in his work. Its no wonder he has produced a songs for German speaking Pop songwriter, Jens Friebe, and his album “In Hypnose” (2005).

Daso ultimately reveals his true talent in his live performances. From emotional House, which abruptly and unexpectedly changes into Rave hymns and hard Techno. He controls the crowd by creating ecstatic moments through perfectly timed change of styles. Above all, this rare talent is an extraordinary performer on dandy level, with elegance and style.

Quoting the words of our protagonists “Music and love are the most important things in my life, and this message I want to spread through my songs. Love not only to people but to all kind of beings and things.”

Today begins a focus on artists represented by the Wonderful cats @ PullProxy. for this episode we would like to present none other than Channel X from Oliver Koletzki’s “Stil vor Talent” imprint. Enjoy the series and stay NOICE!
Let us introduce you to the new berlin-based live-act duo Channel X. It was in 2005 when André and Mirko were first introduced to each other through mutual friends. Very soon after that they decided to make music together. It was then that they formed Channel X, however: their musical history goes further back. As André Quasar, André has been a regular DJ since 1996, playing clubs like the Casino, with his mixture of deep house and minimal techno. First and foremost a DJ, he only started to produce in 2003. Contrary to that, Mirko has been experimenting with the production of electronic music since 1996. In his heart he is a producer, a precise technician redefining his set of possibilities with every technical advancement while staying respectful to his musical roots that range from Hip-Hop, Jazz and Electronica to deeper and harder techno sounds like Alexander Kowalski. “I saw Alexander Kowalski play live at the Tresor once. That was a magic moment. It was then, when I decided that I wanted to play live”, Mirko explains.
Their different approaches to the planet of techno are a genuine source of inspiration for both of them. “We both inspire each other in different areas”, the duo explains. Mirko has started to DJ through André and André has focussed more on his production skills again thanks to Mirko’s motivation. But differences apart, it is what brings them together that is far more important: Producing bouncy music that fluctuates between their different influences, from Mirko’s sound-orientated deep and loungy aspect to André’s housy and more minimal approach. This unique combination that results in a powerful mixture of clicks, effects and pumping grooves is at the heart of the boys’ energy-laden live sets. Equipped with a machine park consisting of two laptops, a sampler, midi controllers and effects units, Channel X have been seen rocking clubs around Germany, showing off their great ability of perfect technical know-how, stage wisdom and adapting to the mood of the crowd. This is not just another one-man laptop show! Far more than that, André & Mirko only play their own productions rearranging and editing them on the go and thus broadening their portfolio whilst in the DJ booth. “When you DJ, you know how people will react to certain tracks. But when we play live, almost nobody knows our tracks. So we work even harder on organizing our live act in such a way that you cannot stand still. You have to move!”, André describes it. “When we first saw people going crazy to our own music, it was a massive rush and it became an addiction. There is no stopping us now!”, Mirko adds to the description.
After many live shows around Berlin, 2007 saw the release of their first EP on Berlin-based minimal label Kassette records. Hailed by ravers and charted by DJs like Pan-Pot, Jeremy P. Caulfield or Afrilounge, it was the busy Oliver Koletzki, – amazed by Channel X’s energy and skills – who signed them for a release on his ever-growing label Stil vor Talent. The “Bug in Coffee EP” was a massive success for both label and Channel X, receiving great press and getting in the charts of big names like Laurent Garnier, Jesse Rose, Karotte or Jamie Jones.

We are very Excited here at NOICE! Today begins a new Monthly Series by one of our favorite DJ’s. “Here There & Every Ware” will be hosted by none other than The legendary Producer and DJ, “Mathias Schaffhäuser“, owner of world renowned Ware Records. Just like P. Toile’s, Perfect Circle, This series will feature various Producers from around the world. So without further ado, to Christen the series properly, we welcome the man himself for an hour long journey into sound.

On a personal note: every so often we as individuals are fortunate enough to cross paths with true Gentleman in our lives. I count myself as such when speaking about Mathias. his support for NOICE!, and the way in which he conducts himself in this relentless industry should stand as a shining beacon of what it means to be compassionate and kind. Thank you for being such an individual.

…this new Podcast series features Ware records label owner and NOICE! resident Mathias Schaffhäuser. its aim is to present current and new productions as well as favorite tracks from other producers and to give the WARE label family and related musicians a cool platform from which to showcase their talents.“

… Mathias Schaffhäuser

Mathias Schaffhäuser’s around in the techno and house scene since 1994. In march 2009 he released his 8th album called “Unequal Equality” which features 10 collaborations between him and various artists, including Ware acts like Benjamin Brunn, And.id, Markus Güntner and Ziggy Kinder, Schaffhäuser’s long time hero Alex Smoke, but also new ones such as Lucy and Xhin from Singapore (both with releases on Meerestief Rec.). The album was released on CD and on 3 vinyl EPs (EP 3 features 2 exclusive new tracks and an alternative version of one of the CD tracks).

Past releases of Mathias appeared on WIR Recordings, Lebensfreude, on Persistencebit Rec., Resopal Red, Force Inc., Multicolor, Definitive Records (house sub-label of Plus-8), Blaou Sounds, Frisbee Tracks and some others. In 1997 he started his own record label WARE which released 82 twelve inches until now (as of October 2009).

2001 saw his club hit “Hey Little Girl”, 2002 “Musik ohne Bass” entered the clubs (Force Inc.). In April 2005 he released his album “Coincidance” (Ware CD 14/Ware 52). The title track was remixed by Trentemöller and by Dapayk (Mo’s Ferry Productions, Dapayk & Padberg/Ware 54). December 2005 saw his 12″ “Lost Vox” with a remix by Pan-Pot, in febuary 2006 the next remix 12″ “more alternatives” was released with a mix by Audio Werner.

In January 2007 Mathias released his 2nd remix album “RE:2″ on Multicolor Records with exclusiv mixes for Pan-Pot, Dapayk & Padberg and DJ Good Groove. The year ended with his long time project “God Is Dead”, inspired by the “Manifesto of Evolutionary Humanism” (“Das Manifest des evolutionären Humanismus”), written by german author Michael Schmidt-Salomon. Electric Indigo says “Thanks for this great record! Music and concept are excellent. I’ve always been all for an evaluation and revitalization of the enlightenment process smiley Congrats!”

On the 11. of Febuary 2008 our jubilee EP “10 Jahre Ware” / “10 Years Of Ware” appeared on the scene with 2 epic tracks, one by Ziggy Kinder and the other by Mathias. Both tracks reflect the Ware history by using samples of the the label’s past 10 years + fit them together with new + unique ideas to 2 new exciting monster tunes.

In year one after Ware’s 10th anniversary Mr. Schaffhäuser looks back on a veritable live tour which led him to Buenos Aires, Offenbach, Singapore, Rostock and Trieste. What combines these illustrous places, you may ask? Everywhere was absolutely super cool! Schaffhäuser’s set kept throwing audiences off the curve. I mean, who squeezes minimal sounds, spontaneous vocal performances, crude cover versions and melodica solos into a one-hour set, without constantly staring at a computer screen? But, from nothing nothing comes. Even before 1993 (does anyone remember this?) Schaffhäuser sang and played guitar in several bands, so he knows how to rock the house. And that works even better with a big enough stage and wireless microphones! Though another fine house track is never far, after all, Schaffhäuser wouldn’t neglect his traditional Ware style, no matter how much he rocks.

Schaffhäuser’s motto at the turntables is: Purism sucks! The quality of the music is what’s important, not sheer functionality and a perfect mix. That is: at times his sets can be rather varied from Ware-style music, nice + smooth neo-house and funky minimal to thumping techno. His current favourites still come from labels such as Cargo Edition, Ostwind, Islands & Islets/Sthlm, Freunde Tonträger, Diynamic Rec., Mobilee, Vakant, Circus Company – just to name a few.

Mathias has produced remixes for Goldfrapp („Twist“, Mute Rec.), Steve Bug („Lover Boy“, Poker Flat Rec.), Misc. („The Magic Number“, Sender Rec.), [A]pendics.Shuffle („No Reductions“, Adjunct Rec.), Luomo („Tessio“, Force Tracks/Force Inc.), J.C.A. (“I Begin To Wonder”, Deep Cukture), Northern Lite („Trusting Blind“, 1st decade Rec.), Faust and many many more.

PS: “Music is and will always be political.” (Ed in De:Bug 09/07, p. 70)

A pan-pot is a simple, workday knob, given to side-to-side flip-flopping and not much else. Pan-Pot, on the other hand, are a brilliant multi-dimensional Berlin duo currently twisting house and techno fans into rapturous fits. In just a few short years, Pan-Pot—comprised of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix—have developed a dominate presence amongst the top tier of electronic dance music, with an ascension paralleling the rise of their native label, mobilee records. Most recently, they demonstrated the height of their achievements with their “Confronted” EP on mobilee, which was swiftly followed by an impressive package of remixes by Adam Beyer & Jesper Dahlbäck, Slam, Martin Landsky and Dapayk.
After booking Anja Schneider for an infamously ill-fated party in 2005, the duo established a connection with Schneider’s then recently formed imprint and within weeks had released the Popy and Caste EP on mobilee—their first release and the label’s second. Graduates of Berlin’s SAE, their initial musical efforts placed a primacy on integrating electronic experimentation with minimal stylings while simultaneously establishing the ominous, murky sounds that have since become synonymous with their name. The next few years saw the release of a steady stream of original tracks and remixes on both mobilee and Einmaleins, each demonstrating the duo’s commitment to precise, undulating and kinetic grooves accompanied by a steady expansion of
their sonic palate.
The defining moment of their career, however, was the release of their debut artist album, Pan-ORama.
The first artist album to be released on mobilee, the aptly named Pan-O-Rama provided a stunning 360-degree tour of techno at its most twisted, balancing somber atmospherics with an impeccable lightness of touch. Serving as a playground for their experimental leanings, the album was a definitive statement of Pan-Pot’s past, present, and future: an affirmation of the possibility of a wider sonic spectrum that suggested a move towards stripped-down techno while simultaneously hinting towards a newly developed sense of melody.
When not in the studio writing original material or putting their unique spin on tracks by a myriad of artists, the bad-boys of impassioned, pitch-black techno can be found on the road touring at a near ceaseless level. Their dance floor oriented DJ sets see them playing back to back and are unconstrained by boundaries as they effortlessly transition between techno, house and everything in between, demonstrating an immaculate understanding of the audience’s wants and needs.
Their willingness to expand the components of their productions while staying firmly rooted in what they do best—colossal, haunting techno tracks overflowing with noise and static, throbbing bass lines, and epic builds that manage to be both tasteful and restrained—is only part of what differentiates Pan-Pot from the hordes of other techno producers currently flooding the airwaves.
They may name themselves after a piece of gear, but Pan-Pot’s music is ultimately about moving bodies, not knobs, all the while giving way to an unprecedented degree of dynamism on dance floors around the world.

how Lucky are we!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of the Hottest Dubstep posse’s on the planet. NOICE! is proud to present Jahcoozi…….

a poly-rhythmic paradise of liquid harmonics to be poured into the ears. jahcoozi’s music is as original as the phonetic imagination of their name.

those behind this creative alliance are song-writer /mc/singer/stage-animal sasha perera (london/sri lanka), beat-freak producer robot koch (germany) and the bass-embodying sound-tech fetishist oren gerlitz (tel aviv, israel). both musically and culturally speaking, jahcoozi are a mash up operation who have consistently managed to deliver their very own mongrel style of electronic pop music.

they met during a long, coal-fuelled winter in berlin back in 2002 and jahcoozi have been making music together ever since. songs such as black barbie and fish are what gained them early recognition back in 2003, the latter having been played as a cd-r by the legendary john peel. ‘beautiful pop music from the future’ is what he said back then, and that still applies today.

it’s jahcoozi’s pop sensibilities that makes them such a solid group that give even the most elite of electronic music producers a run for their money, especially with lead singer/mc sasha perera’s beautiful melodies and skanking rhymes.

jahcoozi’s unique and ever-changing blend of dub-glitch-step based sound succeeds in combining an honest, communicative pop appeal with warm sub- basses and a crunchy, precise yet organic sound texture. with two full-length albums ( ‘pure breed mongrel on kitty-yo, 2005 and ‘blitz ‘n’ ass’ on asound in 2007 ) and numerous eps, picture discs, remixes and features to their name, jahcoozi have released music on various international labels such as kitty-yo, asound, playhouse, ninja tune, bpitch, citizen records, crosstown rebels, 1965 and wmf records just to name a few.

over the years, jahcoozi have collaborated with and been remixed by a refreshingly wide range of artists including asian dub foundation, stereotyp, modeselektor, siriusmo, oliver $, rqm, king cannibal, mochipet, rustie, buraka sound sistema, missill, m sayiid , lexie lee, d-double, tinchy stryder, lethal b, kano, jme, skepta, ata + sasse, cassy, luomo, new flesh, infinite livez, alhaca soundsystem, hannah holland and chris de luca vs. phon.o,

the versatility of jahcoozi’s music and their irresistible live show has led the band on blazing and unrelenting trail across the planet and has seen them play everything from world-renowned music festivals and clubs, raves, squats and even bring-your-own boombox parties in a berlin underpass. they somehow manage to morph almost any situation into a people-power style happening. this probably explains why they’ve been been booked to play shows as far-fetched as at the televised opening of the iffa athletics world cup at berlin’s brandenburg gate as well as at london’s infamous club institution, fabric or montreal’s mutek festival. as they tend to play a variety remixes/versions/ bootlegs of their own songs as well as other unreleased material they’ve made purely for love and fun of ripping up the dancefloor, jahcoozi’s live show can be a bag of surprises even for their most arduous fans.

having toured in 5 continents since the release of their last album, in 2009 jahcoozi released two vinyl eps and bln 4 jpn, a compilation album available exclusively in japan and including a number of unreleased tracks.

the band have just finished off their 3rd album which will come out on 19th april 2010 on ellen alien’s berlin label bpitch control.

we continue our 1 a day series through the WMC with a wonderful artist Duo from the Meant records camp. Please welcome Remote to the NOICE podcast: 2003 – First record Astroglide, considered as one of the best maxis in 2003 by the press and DJs alike. Then the incredible first EP by Henry Goes Dirty, Seb & Eric’s side project, a bizarre mix of electro-pop-rock revealing the roots of what is now REMOTE’s identity: a totally personal appropriation of current trends tinged with a certain independent romantism. 2005 – The duo reforms as Jenny Goes Dirty for their first EP on kill the dj. A collaboration with Jennifer Cardini for a cold synthetic cover of Elli & Jacno’s tragic/classic track: “Amoureux solitaire”. Romantism [once again], and a slap in the face. 2006 – The release of « Get A Real Job » under the name REMOTE. The EP is played and praised by Tiga, James Holden, Tiefschwarz and Ivan Smagghe. « Teaser » – one of the tracks of the EP – becomes a timeless underground anthem. 2008 – Now is the time of « Dark Enough ». The first album for a music originally meant to be made for the EP format. And it damn works! Difficult to talk about as it is more something one feels in the guts. Dark Enough is about techno and disco meeting on a same dancefloor. Dark but not cold. Hard but not insensitive. 2009 – After almost two years of silence, Remote delivers, the « Falsh of Genius EP », released on the Russian imprint “Lichen Records. 4 powerfull tracks drawing a new esthetic in REMOTE’s work and showing what their huge live performance can be. Nearly a plebiscit. All the big names show full support such as Phil Kieran, Laurent Garnier, Thomas Schumacher or Jesse Rose. 2010 – After years of fun and parties as friends, they finally decide to sign on REMAIN & SISKID’s imprint: MEANT RECORDS. And here comes « K/ ». Four tracks, four dancefloor hits. The duet is close to the perfect mastery of their subject : Dark but not cold, Hard but not insensitive, techno and disco. Pick up their new “K” EP at the following locations….

Either as an entertainer behind the decks, e.g. at the “Kehakuma-Party” @ Space / Ibiza, or as a producer and remixer – it`s very hard to resist M.in`s feeling for rocking club music: „yes yes, super funkyness! would love to play this” is Laurent Garnier`s comment on the newest single of M.in on the label Robsoul. But also his remixing skills are obvious establishing three high quality interpretations among the top 20 German Club Charts (peak: position no.3). One remix of Kesho`s “Meru” (kmmltd 001), one on Thomas Schumacher`s Get Physical release “The Ooh” – in close collaboration with saxophonist Harold Todd, member of the Lenny Kravitz band – and finally Rampa`s “Wife & Man” (Keinemusik 003) was reconstructed together with Patrick Kunkel. Markus Ferdinand alias M.in is an artist developing his individual music taste by being open-minded towards other genres. His interpretation of loop-oriented House / TechHouse is spiced up with Jazz, Soul and Afrobeat elements in order to present a varying and sophisticated mix to the audience. His passion for electronic music came up at the age of eleven! As soon as his older brother left the house, M.in started to use his turntables to put on some Hardcore records. After experiencing other genres like BreakBeat & Jungle he finally has found his second home at the House / TechHouse scene being motivated by the likes of DJ Tonka and Ian Pooley. Faithful to the saying „never forget where you come from“ M.in is an artist performing almost exclusively vinyl throughout his dj gigs. But when the time is right he doesn`t hesitate to also use CD with current and unreleased tracks within his preferred three-deck-performance spinning the massive groove and the floating percussions to another level. M.in is also very active in the field of producing enjoying both working alone and being engaged in collaborations: The project M.in & Bastian Schuster is focusing on the perfect harmony of Jazz, House and Sexiness. The two guys are also responsible for the masterpiece „New Orleans EP“ (peak: position no.9, German Club Charts) which had a stunning effect on the dance scene. In contrast to the first project, M.in & Patrick Kunkel adding a higher influence of techno and tribal beats to their sound design. Instruments and vocals are recorded live, the experimental use of coconuts and empty bottles combined with special guests from other genres (e.g. Saxophonist Harold Todd from the Lenny Kravitz band) is part of the philosophy. M.in`s quality work as a producer is rewarded with appearances on labels such as Souvenir (label from Tiefschwarz), International Freakshow, Off Rec., Robsoul (label from Phil Weeks) and Micro.fon. His own label “Komm mit Musik” releases only limited vinyl copies and his second one called “Weplayminimal” distributes just MP3 tracks. As a result of being a passionate musician it is no wonder that his productions can be heard wordwidely and are hammered by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Loco Dice etc. at the most essential events of the electronic music scene. M.in`s philosophy: “obsession for smiling faces” :) !//

well its Saturday and either people are just getting home from clubbing, or waking up from a clubbing evening…. or are going out tonight. whatever the case, we continue our fine spotlight of the Harry Klein DJ’s from Munich. Today on NOICE! join us as we journey through the sounds of DJ Benna…. 3 hours left till sunset. sweat-soaked, hollow-cheeked disciples of the moment moving like synchronized machines to the rhythm of the everlasting 1-2-3-4. the bassdrum is stoically kicking, some percussion are clacking hollowly and between the sounds there is a synthetical bleeping. we find ourselves on the climax of the digital age, at some rave… the beat seems to last forever but the inner emptiness is constantly growing and growing. and suddenly…, a strange glow…, music…, life in eternal ice. benna has entered the decks and suddenly the sound temperature changes. beats transform into heartbeats. in everyones inner self a warm shimmer forms and formerly lost and empty ravers start to reform into living creatures. it`s as simple as that. you certainly can feel it when benna is at the controls. though you can´t always tell that by the glimpse of an eye, he is rather this emotional type of guy. … you might even notice that when you`re getting wobbly knees on the dancefloor, a flickering sight, when your heart is about to burst with heated felicity. as legend has it, once a young raver girl even melt away during one of his sets. there she lay as a self-sufficient puddle beneath the dancefloor reflecting the sky … it is certain that the warm groove he composes in his dj sets is indeed matchless. deep house is his mission, but let me tell you: the guy can also rock the peaktime like hell! on the one side reduced and on the other straight forward but always with the right kind of bassline in mind. far from any kind of randomness he fills the room with intensity and with his special grasp for the moment he seizes control over crowds, drives them to distraction, dragging them to the afterhour and back. at the internationally renowned harry klein club he has been resident since the very beginning after having played some irregular but rather sensational gigs at its predecessor, the legendary ultraschall. furthermore benna has been working with the associated harry klein booking agency right from the start. from the sets he played in munich, he soon acknowledged international reputation as an exceptionally gifted turntablist, which resulted in gigs at europes major clubs. he got portrayed as an up-and-coming talent by groove magazine in 2008 and the announcement of his own productions in addition to his eclectic djing is about to become realized. good god! what are we going to experience then? you can expect that also in his production he´s not going to focus on temporary fashions, but rather on durable qualities. he is not only the emotional but also the classical type. you even can tell by his hairstyle, that benna likes to give things time to develop and to grow. the idea is to be patient till his first releas

we continue our Harry Klein series today with the Wonderful sounds of Marco Zenker.

marco zenker was born in munichs glockenbach neighbourhood in 1988. after he came true with skateboarding and other sports, listening to roots reggae and underground hip hop for years, he discovered at a harry klein party, on which his brother dario was playing, the fascination for electronic music. in the meantime marco developed his own spaced out dubby techno style.
with his 21 years he has already a substantial row of gigs and releases to show. everything began with dancing – the love for music and letting yourself go with the crowd in a club. his live sets are accordingly full of energy and rhythm whereby it is of course also always about the live moment. marco never plays whole pieces – his live sets are always complete improvised.
exactly this mixture makes them so exciting and different. this tears people of the age of ableton djs – where it is not about the live-mixing-art in itself for many people, but more about at least music from somewhere. even in the ableton age where the sound loses always on quality, there are still young artists like marco zenker who stick, nevertheless, pertinaciously to old traditions and live the spirit. together with his brother he runs the label ilian tape and is, moreover, a part of harry klein records. expect the unexpected.

we are very happy to be bringing you this very special podcast from one of our favorite DJ’s… NOICE! in conjunction with Front Room Recordings are proud to present… the uber – talented Jamie Anderson. this is a killer mix….

There are few electronic music lovers that have not already heard of Jamie Anderson’s work. He has proved himself as a long-term force to be reckoned within the dance music scene, not only through his own broad spectrum of production talents across all the colours of dance music but also from his exceptionally high quality DJ sets around the globe.

Coming from a strong musical background growing up around Jazz musicians in West London, Jamie first made a name for himself internationally as a DJ and producer in the early 90′s and became a recognised pioneer of the UK Tech-House scene with a countless number of releases which have defined the genre. Jamie mastered the art of studio production and set up his own Artform Studios where he engineers and produces the majority of his work and collaborations.

Jamie has delivered classic recordings such as; Jamie Anderson & Jesse Rose ‘Body Jackin feat Steve Silk Hurley’ (International Deejay Gigolos), Jamie Anderson ‘Black Sun’ (NRK) and Jamie Anderson ‘Time Is Now’ (Honchos/NRK). While producing numerous Techno gems including; Deepgroove & Jamie Anderson ‘Juggernaut’ (Cocoon), Jamie Anderson ‘Tornado’ (Noise Music) and Jamie Anderson ‘Can’t Stop’ (Artform) to name just a few. His groundbreaking debut album was released in 2001; Jamie Anderson ‘Blue Music’ (NRK), fusing Latin Jazz, Roots Dub, Acid House and Disco in a way that had never been heard before and leading the way for the future of House music.

His own Artform label was set up in 1997 and racked up over a decade worth of Detroit and Chicago influenced House and Techno releases championed by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Dave Angel, DJ Sneak, Derrick May and Laurent Garnier. The label released the first records by Jesse Rose, Jamie Anderson and AJ Scent as well as releasing material and remixes by established artists such as Steve Rachmad, Jerome Krom and Stanny Franssen. In 2005, Jamie also set up Fixia records for his own Acid House, Minimal and experimental output.

Jamie’s legendary performances at Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Dance Valley Festival in Amsterdam, Zouk in Singapore, Love Parade San Francisco, Cocoon and System parties in Leeds along with tours of Asia, USA, Europe and South America have all contributed to establish a strong fan-base as one of the world’s most exciting and innovative DJs.

2009 sees Jamie Anderson enter a fresh new phase of production with releases scheduled on the world’s finest labels; Sven Vath’s Cocoon, Jesse Rose’s Front Room & Made to Play, Alter Ego’s Klang Elektronik, Radio Slave’s Rekids, Louis Osbourne’s Weekend Offenders and Jerome’s Outland Records. Jamie is also currently in the process of re-launching his Artform label with an exciting concept and original new material. His collaboration album; Deepgroove & Jamie Anderson ‘13MACHINES’ is due for imminent release on the legendary German Harthouse label.

Hello everyone… we are proud to conclude our series on Scotland and Edinburgh Talent today featuring the musical talents of Ewan Smith. sit back and enjoy this beautiful journey through one of our favorite rising stars. we are proud to have been afforded the opportunity to bring this series to you and want to thank Stu Todd, and Claire Polson for helping put this together……. cheers.. and enjoy the mix…

about the artist:
Ewan Smith has been obsessed with electronic music from an early age. Acquiring his first set of decks at 17, he’s been hooked and has never looked back.

Early influences included DJ’s Danny Howells, John Digweed, Nic Fancuilli, Layo & Bushwacka and Laurent Garnier. After a trip to the infamous after hours club DC10 in Ibiza, Ewan’s musical repertoire transformed. Huge influences for him currently include DJ’s Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Dan Ghenacia, Andrew Grant, Jose De Divina, Matthias Tanzmann, Sebo K, Jamie Jones, Dyed Soundorom, Marco Carola, Ralph Lawson, Peace Division, Inland Knights, The Mountain People, labels Moon Harbour Recordings, 8bit, Oslo, Cecille Numbers, Freerange, Remote Area, 2020 Vision, Plastic City, Tsuba & Wolf & Lamb.

Expect to hear in his sets a mixture of Deep House, House & Tech House. He plays music that has a groove, if there’s no groove, there’s no point!

Playing alongside the likes of Jamie Jones, Reboot, Lucio Aquillina, Andy Chatterley, Cagedbaby, Fergie, Sebestian Leger and Style Of Eye to name but a few, by the time Ewan turned 20 he had played at the top venues Edinburgh had to offer and made guest appearances on the Balearic island, Ibiza.

One of his highlights was being asked to play at Eden for one of the legendary workers parties. Ewan has been involved with successful night Not So Dirty which came to an end in 2008 after 3 successful years. Since deciding to end Not So Dirty, he went on to be Resident at infamous, long-running club night, Stereotype which is due to shut its doors one last time on 30th January after an amazing 7 years! He has also made appearances at nights such as Musika, KlickKlack (Newcastle), Hotbox (Glasgow), Fuse, Unlock The House, Wired and the Musika Arena @ Scottish Dance festival Fantasylands.

Ewan has also been responsible for bringing cutting edge artist Jamie Jones to Edinburgh, with his night “Offbeat” that he ran/promoted alongside fellow DJ’s Chris Graham and Jamie McKenzie.

As well as spinning tunes, Ewan also has a passion for making his own music and 2009 saw four tracks released on Newcastle’s very own ‘City West Records’, two of which were produced with Fellow producer and DJ, Kirk Douglas.

2010 looks set to be a big year for Ewan, with a number of new releases set to come out on “City West Records” and new night “SouLoco”, which he started with fellow DJ/producers & promoters Chris Graham, Kirk Douglas & Jamie McKenize. Check them out @ The Speakeasy, Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh.

He is also about to embark on an Internship with Resident Advisor, to gain vital knowledge, experience and contacts within the music industry.

It is only fitting that we present our 100th podcast today with the spirit of what the NOICE! podcast was founded upon… to provide an outlet for up and coming artists and DJ’s from around the world. Here then, is another great mix by a Scottish duo in our ongoing series showcasing some of that countries best young Talent. NOICE! is proud to present Rab Clark & Mick Macneil.

about the artists:

Rab Clark and Mick Macneil‘s wires first crossed at a house party in the summer of 2004; a mutual friend’s introduction sparked the realisation that they shared a passion for electronic music and a friendship and creative partnership was born.

With their decks in tow, the boys began to play at house parties most weekends and after three years of becoming reputable and firm favourites behind the decks, their own club night became inevitable…..

As such, Wired’s wheel first started to gather momentum on Boxing Day 2007, when Rab and Mick held their first in a series of intimate, organised parties. Filling the capacity of their venues time after time led to the boys being approached by a larger club with a capacity of 1500, to host parties and showcase a range of local yet roaring, upcoming DJ talent from both Scotland and Ireland. Wired secured headliners such as Space resident, Smokin Jo and, understandably, got noticed in the process.

Their rolling recognition has since seen them spin in venues at the forefront of the electronic music scene, from Dublin to Ibiza, in addition to cementing regular slots at Musika, one of the UK’s biggest club nights.

With some of the biggest names in the industry having now had support from Wired over the past two years: Dubfire, M.A.N.D.Y, Luciano, Deadmau5, Eric Prydz and James Zabelia to name but a few, it’s future certainly looks bright.

Now plugged firmly into the Edinburgh club circuit, the boys’ credibility keeps on growing. Wired continues to insulate a current of electronic beats in the talent they exhibit, whilst simultaneously connecting with an ever-glowing and growing crowd.

If this vibe is anything to go by then their recent dabbles in production are sure to be the flickerings of switching something even bigger, right on…

A familiar story for you I’m sure…
After my first ‘mates’ holiday at the age of 17 to Ibiza, I instantly fell in love with the people, the parties and the music. I promptly bought desks and started spending all my hard earned cash on vinyl.
A few years on and I’m still mad for records (no vinyl of-course!). I won the Scottish Open Decks DJ competition, based in Edinburgh, in November 2007 and have been playing out regularly since then. To date I have been resident at several Edinburgh club nights including Cream and Flux in 2008. 2009 saw me playing more gigs and competitions. I entered a DJ completion for Scotland’s first dedicated Dance Music festival, EH1. From 400 entrants, I finished in the final 6.
I’ve promoted and ran 2 club nights since the first competition – HOOKED & GLITCH. HOOKED runs no more due to the venue closing. My efforts are now focused on GLITCH. It proves a platform for me to play the music I love to the clubbers of Edinburgh. It has also allowed to give some exposure to other local DJs that I respect and admire. I’m building the night steadily and slowly, looking to book some bigger guests. I’ve also this year (2010) secured a gig at Edinburgh’s, and one of Scotland’s leading club nights, the mighty Musika. I can’t say which, but one of Glasgow’s bigger nights has shown some interest too also – I’m looking to develop this in the next few months.
I’ve been learning the dark art which is production for a number of years now and am looking have my first record released this year.
I like to play with some energy in my sets, always keeping the vibe pretty uplifting. I’m playing more house of late but also play Tech-house and techno for tougher floors. I’m loving the sounds coming from Amsterdam, Buzzin’ Fly, 2020 Vision, dirtybird, Mihalas Safras, Tim Green, Julien Chaptal, San Francisco, Simon Baker, Cocoon.
This year I hope to continue building GLITCH steadily; promote myself further a-field out-with Edinburgh and all over Scotland and continue learning all I can about dance-floors and the people who grace them at the weekend.

every so often… our decks are graced by legends. this is one of those times. back in 1992 KMS (Kevin Saunderson’s Label) sent me a load of vinyl from this cat. the rest you can say is History as I immediately became a fan of his production. recently… I contacted Anthony (Chez’s real name) and asked him to prepare a mix for the NOICE! podcast. what an honor to have this legend on the show… if you like House music… you are in for a real treat. so without further ado, sit back and prepare yourself for the amazing sounds of one of my favorite producers of all time. NOICE! is proud to present…… CHEZ DAMIER…

Chez Damier: A work in progress

KMS, The Music Institute, Prescription: The Chicago legend has been through it all, but if his recent activity is any indication, he’s not done yet. In this in-depth interview, Chez Damier talks about his past, present and future with RA’s Dave Stenton.

Along with a couple of friends, Chez Damier opened The Music Institute in Detroit in the late ’80s. Every nascent music scene needs an outlet. And The Music Institute proved just as important for the development of techno in the city as The Warehouse and The Music Box had been for house music in Chicago a few years earlier.

Damier, AKA Anthony Pearson, could have stopped there, assured of a place in dance music history—albeit just a footnote. But, instead—and after a few years managing the KMS studio and label for Kevin Saunderson—he returned to his hometown of Chicago and, alongside Ron Trent, created a musical legacy deserving of an entire chapter. Between 1993 and 1995, the first 15 releases on the pair’s Prescription label—widely regarded as one of the finest house imprints ever—crafted the blueprint for what would become known as deep house. And 15 years later the tracks they created together as Chez N Trent—most notably “Morning Factory,” “Sometimes I Feel Like,” “The Choice” and “Be My”—remain unparalleled examples of the genre.

When seemingly at the height of their powers, however, musical differences put paid to the partnership. Trent took sole control of Prescription and, for a year or so, Damier focused on the sub-label, Balance, before taking an extended break from the music industry. A handful of releases in 2004 and the odd DJ date hinted that a return was on the cards. But conclusive proof only came in 2009 when Damier committed to a series of releases for the German label Mojuba, as well as launching his own new project, Balance Alliance.

RA spoke to Chez prior to his recent DJ appearance at new London party, Lost In The Loft. The conversation covers his early clubbing experiences in Chicago, the development and subsequent breakdown of his relationship with Ron Trent and how, after so long out of the game, he is coping in an industry that has undergone widespread change.

we are proud to present the 4th installment of the ever popular “Perfect Circle” podcast hosted by Berlin’s P toile. today we welcome Tic Tac Toe // Connect Four Label Honcho …. Patrick Bateman… enjoy and stay NOICE!

Yeah, we know, you might have given more notice to the blood and gore of the character from the Bret Easton Ellis novel, but one thing’s for sure: That Patrick Bateman knew how to party and it’s the same with this one. Already a household name when the Danish club scene exploded in the late nineties, Kenneth Broxgaard aka. DJ Patrick Bateman has been a key party player for almost two decades. He’s a prime son of a Danish techno/house scene that just keeps on getting better and better and he knows all the artistic effects down to the last beat, from vicious minimalism over luscious deep tech-house.

He started spinning records in the early nineties with the early boy love for Inner City, Italian house and rave music and in the years that followed Patrick Bateman has covered huge amounts of space in an ever curious exploration of electronic party music. Musically, Detroit techno and Chicago house made a huge impact on Patrick Bateman in 95 and so did the looping mono techno from Sweden and the UK a few years later. But minimal techno and house have always taken up major parts of Bateman’s all-embracing record shelves. Since 99/00, he has been spinning minimal techno and house exclusively German style and with the odd twist of deep house and old school classics thrown in for good measure.

The last 7-8 years, Patrick Bateman has really made his mark. Touring everywhere in Denmark and many venues in Europe, Bateman’s remarkably energetic, spot free sets have presented the minimal techno/house vibe to an audience that’s moved from curious to responsive to exhilarated. In 2004, Bateman started the label Tic Tac Toe Records. The label is focusing on minimal house and techno, primarily from all the Danish talents, but also with international acts. The first 25 releases are already out, and have been played and charted by all the big DJ’s and the name ‘Tic Tac Toe’ has been getting a lot of attention internationally. In Denmark it has led to an award as best label in 2007 and a nomination for best label in 2008. In 2007 Connect Four saw the light. This is the sister label to TTT focusing on deeper sounds. Bateman has also started producing music, and he is follows his DJ trademark very closely and you can be sure you will hear a lot more from him during the coming years on this front too. In 2008 Bateman won the award as ‘best upfront DJ of the year’ at Danish DJ Awards, showing that he is still on forefront of things even after 14-15 years of DJ’ing. The guy may not be guzzling blood like his alter ego, but he’s a superb DJ

About Android Cartel From the farthest depths of humanoid computation comes the production team and DJ duo Android Cartel. Based out of Los Angeles robot masters Reagan Denius and Christopher Mohn are responsible for crafting the sound of West Coast tech-house and have exploded onto the scene with a ravenous force that only and android army could invoke. With an attitude bumping enough for a dirty downtown warehouse, and moods big enough for the main room dance floor, the Cartel’s conception of atmosphere and rhythm has found a place amongst the biggest producer’s and DJ’s of modern dance music such as Luciano, Radio Slave, John Digweed, Steve Lawler, Ben Watt, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Chris Fortier, Hernan Cattaneo, Chloe Harris and more! Android Cartel have managed to walk a fine line with their influences of underground and mainstream club culture with releases on VIVa MUSIC, EQ Recordings, Fade Records, as well as underground favorites that continue to influence the shape of techno like Railyard, and Tekfunk. The Android’s have also built up a following in the Los Angeles area and have DJ’d many shows and have become local favorites as representatives and educators of the global sounds of house music. They have also created a buzz in the San Diego scene, playing at Giant’s SPIN night club, as well as throwing many of their own parties in conjunction with Tekfunk. The Androids also host a monthly internet radio show on Proton Radio that airs every third Wednesday of the month from 3PM – 5PM PST (6PM – 8PM EST). The show is called “Expressions in Sound,” and has hosted guests such as Luca Bacchetti, Robert Babicz, Livio & Roby, Chris Fortier, Erphun, and many others.

Our 4th and Final Podcast celebrating the Trapez 100 series comes by way of one of our favorite artists….. please welcome back the Amazing Mihalis Safras……. NOICE! Not much to say about the athenian DJ/producer and mastermind behind the Material Series. ”Mihalis Safras is concidered to be one of the most high-profiled artists and the most productive techno producer on the planet.” (DJ Mag245) He started his career by djing in 1997 to some of the most notorious venues in Athens (Berlin, +Soda, Umatic, Venue) the period when a new electronic age was starting. Quite soon and after many years of successful djing he recognized djing wasn’t enough! Mihalis appears on at least a dozen 12-inches every year, establishing himself as one of world’s most accredited producers through sheer will. The hard work has paid off in the form of releases on celbrated labels like Trapez, Great Stuff Recordings, Soma Quality Recordings, BPitch Control which had proven that he hasn’t run out of creative gas. Furthermore he has collaborated for remixes on Ali Dubfire’s ‘Roadkill’ and for a special mix on Britney Spears ‘Breathe’. Mellowing his style as times goes by, getting more experimental and spacey with a fresh style of his own, Mihalis’s production is destined to the wiser dancefloors and most of his vinyls receive international awareness by reaching into charts of the biggest DJs like Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Ricardo Villalobos and many more. His astonishing discography and the friendship with the UK ‘master’ Mark Broom lead in 2006 to the birth of his own label and one of the best techno labels these days, Material Series. A smooth label built on the idea of releasing groovy club tunes with material names, all in coloured 12′ vinyl. Material Series presents not only Mihalis’ ideas on techno but also famous respected artists that included on Material roster. Also in mid of 2007 Material’s ‘sister’ label, Playmobil, was born to embrace more melodic techno lovers. DJ-wise, his trade relies on housey & funky techno or what he describes as ‘techno combining the hard and funky edges of the groovy minimal’. Travelling and speading his tricky sound around the globe, from Yellow (Tokyo) to Avalon (NY) he becomes a milestone of the international techno circuit. Once more expect much from Mihalis in 2010! (written by Lizz Goss, DJM) Make sure to check out his “Interafrica remixes” available with remixes by Mark Broom, The GLitz & Luciano Esse and Toni D… available digitally and in all good vinyl stores starting 10/26/09….. we are NOICE! and we love Trapez……

If the increasingly demanding international schedule of weren’t enough (try playing Germany and then Kuala Lumpur in the space of 4 days!), a string of highly successful 12″s on labels and remixes last year have well and truly solidified deepchild’s reputation as a serious ‘contender’ in the saturated international dance-music community. London, Berlin, Tokyo, California, Vancouver, Cologne, Manchester, Leeds, Serbia, Kuala Lumpur and more have all featurer in this years extensive dj/live touring menu, with residencies in homeland of Sydney (AU) at Bread and Butter and KINK fleshing out time between quarterly European tours and a busy studio schedule. When not turning the dials in his studio in Bondi, Sydney, deepchild bunkers down for extended production duties in his unofficial ‘second home’ of various studios in Berlin (where much of his label-community and European booker are based). From ‘big-label’ original releases for labels like US Om Records, remix work for legendary producers New Order, Booka Shade (Get Physical), deeper cuts for Trapez and Resopal Schallware, and serious tech-weapons for Anabatic, Affin (run by Kompakt’s Joakim Spieth), Dieb and Detroit’s own MDEX Records, a steady stream of bouncy, jackin’ minimal sounds have insured deepchild has remained one of Australia’s most in-demand producers. Hipp-e, Robert Babicz, Tigerstripes, Jimpster and Luomo have all leant their remix credits to deepchild 12″s…. The journey has been a long and sonically expansive one. Recent dj support from the likes of Justin Martin, Mattias Tanzman and Hipp-e, sits solidly against the proclamations of respected music journal, The Wire, who went as far as to proclaim that this sound was “as sexy and addictive as new-dub electronica gets”. From quirky, stripped-back techno to deep dub explorations, deepchild has proven a robust producer and highly repsected dj and live-performer. When Stereo-Heaven (the biggest dj store in Essen, Germany) found that their biggest selling tech-house record was infact written in a small share-house studio in Sydney’s Inner-West (deepchild’s “No Disgrace”, on Future Classic), they took the time to make special mention of what is indicative of deepchild’s head-turning appeal: “over here in my hometown in germany, we really love “no disgrace”!! it’s also by far the best selling record in our new local shop, too…from deep or tech house to minimal djs, hiphop and electronica fans – everybody is into that 3-tracker…really an amazing 12″ you’ve created!” Freerange Record’s ‘tech-house institution’, Milton Jackson, phrased is rather more sucsinctly, “Oh My God. I think you are my new hero”

about the artist:

Marcus Sur aka Marcus Frankowski started early discovering his passion for music. At the age of 14 he founded his own band, where he – first as singer, later as bass – inspired the audience in numerous concerts.

In the late 90s he exchanged the bass for 2 record players and started djing in some clubs in the Ruhr area. At this stage he didn’t want to commit to any music style. Bored by the stagnation in Hardcore and Crossover he quickly found a new home in the revolutionarily developing electronical music scene.

His design study led him to Essen where he soon got gigs in the legendary House club “Rote Liebe”. As resident DJ in the Essen club Baikonur he also used to be an essential musical consultant and trend scout.

In celebration of the Trapez 100 Release…. we are proud to present a 4 part series leading us through the new year. Today… please welcome back to NOICE! the Legendary Florian Meindl..

Florian Meindl is a DJ, producer and sound designer. In addition to numerous collaborations with international artists he is busy with writing soundtracks for movies, advertisings, producing remixes (currently for Röyksopp & Hot Chip) and has just successfully completed his BA studies at the London College of Music. He also writes articles about music production in magazines like “FutureMusic” and does music production shows for the “Berlin Mitte Institut”. Till now his productions have been released on labels such as Trapez, Stil vor Talent, Resopal, Herzblut and Kling Klong. The 17th and current release on his own label FLASH Recordings is in production; this serves as a platform for continuous development and promises many unheard sound creations from Meindl’s universe.

If you ask the 24 year old musician about the origin of his exceptional career, he will describe it as an “early identification with electronic music” which occurred in a small village in beautiful Upper Austria. He sees himself as an artist who is passing this message on to a new generation.
The collaboration with Oliver Koletzki, founder and owner of Stil vor Talent, was certainly an important milestone. Both generated trend-setting productions from which some of the current club tunes and hits emerged. Meindl’s Solo E.P. “Sputnik” is his standard release, one of the essentials of a new minimal style, as is “Blast” which has just been remixed by Format:B for the100th release on Trapez. All in all, Meindl has released more than 100 tracks in very different genres during the course of his young musical development.
After prolonged stays in London Meindl, having adopted Berlin as his home, finally made to move to Berlin in 2009. Here he found the stage for further developing his music. From his new home-base he tours the world’s top clubs, because apart from the exceptional variety of his very own musical style both in music production and composition, he is known more than anything else for his precision in creating driving and diversified DJ sets. Closely following the present development, this demanding representative of the next generation of electronic music is presently focussing on the expansion of his international work. However, Meindl still finds the time to present his original and unique sound branding to a curious party crowd which is rapidly developing into a loyal community of fans.
In addition to his continuous touring and label work he also produces a sound design in the form of audio samples under the name “Riemann Kollektion” which has already taken its place in the standards of modern musical development. When one experiences the modest authority of this sound artist in the sometimes slightly morbid and fast moving scenario of today’s club music, one can look forward to the continued development of electronic music. Florian Meindl is certainly one of the most interesting representatives of the next generation of electronic music producers.

We at NOICE! always try and search out the most creative and forward thinking DJ’s of our time. not always the DJ top 100, but always quality Electronic music. this set is no different. we are proud to present: BlackIsBeautiful

Enjoy

An analogue idea within the digital age!

Ümit Han and Tim Dicke simply have one goal on the postmodern playground of electronic music art: black sound. Dirty, criminal and unconventional – and brutally honest at the same time.

Their deep connection to analogue art can be heard and experienced in their musical creations and their live performances. Inspired by machines’ aesthetics, they create polymorph sound syntheses coming from current sources. Noise-friendly sound fragments. Tension-steered, loaded with energy, attracting gravity. The foundation hides sizzling and scraping sounds of the technically versed music machines. Electrosphere!

Blackisbeautiful pull their musical approach out of honest chance. Lively, unpredictable, unreproducible. Ideas can be found in – as they call it – opportunistic vanguard. Occasional field recording and sampling in exactly this or another moment. Real-time art powered by childlike curiosity and an esoteric desire to experiment.

Self-confident simplicity and collective spontaneity cross their monochrome sound worlds and hypnotically lead from momentary fascination into the eternal moment. Colourful moments within black melodies!

The colour black – which is not really considered to be a real colour
brings true colours to bear.
In this process they fully unfold their splendour and beauty
like a butterfly.
Black is not colourful – but black creates colour.
Such as in music.
As black is beautiful.
