Description
Within the Parisian house scene we all know about Seuil, Masomenos or Dan Ghenacia, who set themselves over the years as key figures of this kind of music, both in their homeland and abroad. Since then, we have witnessed the birth of a new generation of producers in our French capital, embodied by young talents such as Le Loup, Yakine and Roman Azzaro, who managed in a short period of time to refresh and bring up to date a music genre that was starting to falter…
Among all these promising artists there’s also Vadim Svoboda, who is, despite the Russian consonance of his name, a natural-born Parisian. He got into music at a very young age: he started by playing the piano, and discovered a passion for romantic composers who will later have a strong influence on him and his approach of music production. After many trips to Ibiza, where his parents used to take him since he was born, he got into electronic music and quickly started listening toRicardo Villalobos, Isolée, Ark and Troy Pierce. Then, he settled down in New York to finish his cinema studies and built himself a full-analog live set, which allowed him to perform in several bars and rooftops, in front of an always-fascinated audience. In 2009, he dropped his first EP onLessizmore‘s netlabel: these four tracks taken from his live set were supported by faces like Magda, and gave him all the street cred he deserved on the French house music scene. Since then he created his very own label Makesense and is getting ready to release a new EP in collaboration withMasomenos, planned for June 2011.
The following mix will most certainly appeal to amateurs of organic grooves, weird vocals and various electronic experimentations. Vadim Svoboda introduces us to his own vision of house music, the one that honors a certain minimalism but still remains catchy and dancefloor-effective. His sound definitely brings a breath of fresh air to the house “made in France”, and he proves it with this great podcast.
